The bag itself is good material and well sewn. Filling is slightly compressible and medium weight, which I liked also. My dislike was the slot on top of bag was too wide for the rifle to fit snug, which allowed the barrel to wander. For something other than precision shooting it might be OK.
My 3rd Vortex product. The first two products were Viper level. What a difference! It’s not as though the other products were low quality, they were fine. I’m just surprised at how clear and bright the glass is for this scope. Will definitely consider Razor if at all possible in future Vortex purchases. I also really like the reticle.
Parts seem sturdy and the bracket cinches up tight with no wobble. Remote switch kit easy to install and use. Certainly bright enough if you confine use to 30 yards or less, beyond that it’s not an issue of brightness but beam spreading. I haven’t put it through the torture test yet so do not yet know how it will hold up. Certainly good value.
I had parts from Gen. 1 rifle. Plastic shroud and plastic bolt dissemble tool. Worst part was the bolt tool. After a while it became so worn that it no longer sufficiently compress the firing pin spring that upon reassembly the firing pin could be properly retained in the bolt. Result was that the bolt separated inside the rifle after firing about 20 rounds. No damage-just a hassle to get apart and then back together. This shroud and tool is much better. Fits well. The fluted titanium model is just marginally more expensive than the aluminum version. My only suggestion is that they find a way to fit the Allen wrench in the shroud like the original. For now, it goes in the tool bag.
Mated this up with Aero M5 lower and Aero hand guard. Fit was good-so good that I had to tap the parts together with a plastic hammer. I have also found it best to use upper, lower, and hand guard from same manufacturer if you are particular about matching the finish. There are less expensive products but they are no frills and more expensive ones with additional aspects. Aero seems like a fairly high quality product with mid range price.
The jig I received was too wide and I initially didn’t notice. With edge of the jig right up against barrel journal the set screw was slightly off center from gas port. When I tightened down the set screw it peened the edge of the gas port. Had to remove jig and file off extra metal so that the jig would center over gas port. Supplied drill bit is certainly sharp, but makes a deeper, narrower hole than necessary. You may wish to use the supplied bit just to start each dimple or use another bit entirely.
