Under Rated

I've put well over 1000 rds through this bcg. The 10 is a maintenance-after-every-use platform. The only issues I encountered where a bent retaining pin due to build up in the breach. Some sub-par, low cost, alternative, steel cased and likely manufactured in you-know where under you know whos administration, ammo and excess residue made for a sticky extraction thus bending the retaining pin. I made the exchange from cotter pin to machined pins and even bent a few of those! that and as to be expected crack forming on the extraction claw after the first 500 or so rounds. These rifles are no-doubt precision and a muzzle brake for the sake of your optics will reduce additional stress. 1500+ rds and nothing other than the afore mentioned.

Gas port needs tuning-

Written on Nov 22, 2020

AR10 isn't for everyone. Especially shooters unused to gas-impingement troubleshooting. As any Range Safety office any they will tell you that it's not for everyone. Parts selection regardless of the manufacturer has to make sense. However even if you buy all Aero parts upfront you'll want to drill the gas port up by .028. The 16" even with the factory port flings your brass way out in front. All in all you cant run a rifle buffer or spring. No way, you need to use Aero's softer carbine springs and buffer. I did all that and used a dual ejector bolt and it was still wrecking my brass. I finally changed powder loads and went with combat 147gn match bullet. That's this rifle's sweet spot. Even with the 16" the 400yd+ steel sings like a xylophone. If you want to shoot the heavier bullets go with a mid length and I've had luk wotj that out to 700+ same load too boy. But I'm using a 14x SIG BDX heheheheheh

Still holding Zero- Update

Written on Nov 22, 2020

I've long since switched over to shooting other builds 308. When switching back to my Vintage A2 this scope mounted way up on the fixed carry handle, continues to be trouble-free. The black coating is peeling more and it's still zeroed. This is a $400-500 scope that sells for $250??? A permanent home on my A2.

Fantastic Trigger-Patient Customer Support

Written on Dec 31, 2019

I don't have anything to compare this to other than a slop-spec DPMS curved-ridged unit. It's night and day. There's a safety factor that folks must consider. I've been pulling triggers probably longer than 50% of the people reading this been alive. This thing isn't touchy but, the straight edge, on those so equiped, as on mine lulled me. Please be careful. Install the anti-walk pins loosely. Ensuring the hex wrench is completely inserted, tighten the inner set screws firmly using the anti-walk pins as a stop. Then go back and tighten the AWPs. Amazing trigger.
