Great Value

Written on Apr 19, 2025

Great price on quality target rounds. These look good on a pattern board and go bang every time. I have purchased a lot of the 12ga Gun Clubs, and these seemed to work equally well. For the time being my go-to Sporting Clay's/Five Stand Ammo

Beware! Very Picky about the Picatinny Rail

Written on Jan 21, 2025

I have not yet been the range with this magnifier, however once mounted it looks like it should work well. However I did encounter problems attempting to mount the optic.

Issue #1
Attempting to mount it on a obscure produced Side Charging Upper, the optic mount would not clip onto the upper Pic Rail. After trial fitting on numerous uppers and bolt on Pic Rails, I determined that not all Pic Rails are created equal. It would mount up easily on my Springfield Saint Victor & numerous Aero Research uppers. But not the fore mentioned Side Charger and several aftermarket bolt on accessory Pic Rails. After measuring everything I determined that the items which wouldn't accept the optic mount had slots on the Pic Rails that were slightly too narrow. The Optic Mount has two located lugs that are supposed to register in the Pic Rail. I'm guessing Holosun felt they were necessary due to the weight of the optic. I ended up opening the slots slightly on the upper to accept the mount. If I had it to do over, I would take a little off the optic mount lugs.

Issue #2
I am pairing this Magnifier up with a Holosun HS510C Red Dot. The QD lever of the HS510C is on the right side of the mount, on magnifier mount the lever is on the left. The apparent result is that the two optics do not mount up exactly in parallel. I had to run the "windage" adjustment of the magnifier all the way to the end of it's travel on one side to get the reticle near the center of the magnifier. It appears to me that

You won't regret buying this!

I'm presently using this mount on a "Precision" AR22 with a Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50, with plans to using it on a more appropriate platform later. It appears to be very robust. The mount may be a bit of overkill for a lot of applications, but I've had it with junk, entry level mounts that require over-tightening the rings to get the scope secure. And consequently damaging the scope tube. Buy once, cry once!

Just what is needed

This is the perfect way to go went mounting a Trijicon or Holosun optic on a Sig P226 or P229 with a factory optics cut slide. Since the slide is cut for a slightly larger Sig optic, a Trijicon SRO or RMR isn't a "glove" fit on the factory optics cut. The C&H plate snugs up the install nicely. The online install guide & video is a must see, as it suggests steps that go further to insure a more secure install.
Now the Sig 6-40 fastener "issue". The C&H plate includes the correct screws for both a Trijicon or Holosun optic. The instructions recommend not reusing the fasteners should the optic be remounted or changed. The kit comes with only three screws for each install?!?. Knowing how hard it is to source these non-standard (SHAME ON YOU SIG!) screws, I would give this kit 10 out 5 Five Stars if only they would have included one more screw per install, which would have accommodate an optics change at a later date. Raise the price a bit if necessary. Otherwise, I don't know how you could improve on the kit.

Fits well, but...

The sunshade fit my PA 4-14 scope perfectly. My disappointment was damage found to the front of the shade. There were 3 chips through the finish at the front lip of the shade that was inflicted BEFORE the shade was packaged. The item is definitely not up to the standards I've come to expect from Primary Arms. This is probably the first accessory that I have added to a weapon that was as much for aesthetic purposes as functional. Pity so little care was taken to provide proper finish protection through the manufacturing process.

What a Disappointment

After reading all the positive reviews, I felt confident ordering this Red Dot. The battery case cap is ridiculously difficult to get started, but I work with fasteners every day. So that only took me about 5 minutes. I also find the size of the optic lens way smaller that I expected. I should have tried harder to find one locally to understand how small it is (GOOD LUCK WITH THAT).

My most significant issue with this product is, that even on the lowest setting, the reticle is so bright that it completely obscures the center of a paper target. Several articles I have read recommend the 6 MO reticle for swift acquisition of a target. This thing is so large and bright, you will be lucky to see the target. That is if you can find the reticle on the VERY small lens. My first experience with a Red Dot was with a sub $100.00 Red Dot mounted a Browning .22 Auto. Both my wife & I LOVE that one. This one is basically a stinker.

OpticsPlanet has refused a return, as I had already mounted it on my Beretta APX. I will have to contact Vortex directly to see if there is a solution to at least the last issue. When I get over the lose of over $200, I may look at a Leopold product. Not so sure it will be coming from OpticsPlant
