Perfect for my situation
Written on Jun 25, 2026
After going through multiple configurations to find a way to utilize a Vortex Crossfire II red-dot on my Ruger PC Carbine with a magnifier, nothing aligned like the internet suggested. Literally nothing worked as written or even recommended. I was told my idea would not work and would be a waste of money. Well, after already wasting money listening to others, I did it anyway.
This mount, with the Vortex Crossfire II red dot, with a VMX3T magnifier on a AMD quick release mount (flip mount is meant for an AR rail, i.e. a flat top rifle) and the magic happened. I can now see out to 100 yards (because I'm old and have old person eyesight) with the magnifier. I can take it off for anything closer and still keep it on target. And I don't care that this is only for plinking. Hitting your target is the fun part of plinking. Seeing your target is kind of important to achieve that!
Other than that, you get what you pay for. I found some monstrum mounts that got close for a fraction of the price. I just had to deal with stripped out screws and loose fitting. I figured it was worth the difference.

Nice upgrade to my GP100
Written on Jun 17, 2026
It's a beautifully made wood grip. You can find less expensive imitations on Ebay but you will regret it. I speak from personal experience. This is top quality and it's evident as soon as you put it on the pistol

Review for
Vortex VMX-3T Magnifier with Flip Mount
I swapped out the flip mount for the ADM 26S-RMT-AMDEF001-AD-1359-L-STD (best price is on this site) as the flip mount raised the center line too high for my PC Carbine. The Red Dot also needed a slightly higher mount (AD-T1-CASV STD) to align them together. But it's a nice upgrade to be able to easily remove red-dot, add/remove magnifier as desired. No tools needed if I ever need to use the integrated sights.

Quality is evident

You can find alternatives for less but you definitely get what you pay for with this type of mount. For a 22, probably not necessary. On anything else, save time and frustration and go with quality.

Great pairing with Optic Scopes

Review for
Vortex Sport 1in Riflecope Rings
These provide an excellent height for cheek weld on traditional stock rifles. Perfect height with reasonable clearance for scope adjustments.

Scout scope for Mini-14 with a Hannibal Rail
Written on Jun 08, 2026
After multiple attempts at finding an optic for my Mini-14 that kept the low-to-bore alignment, I gave a forward scout scope option a try. And I have to say, rather than burning money on every other alternative, this is perfect. It's comfortable and easy to identify target while maintaining a good check weld to the factory hogue stock.
Medium rings, for those wanting to know. I opted for Warne Maxima Hoizontal quick release rings. This way, worst case and I mess up the scope, the iron sights are accessible without tools.

Verified Vortex Product - Worth the price
Written on May 19, 2026
When I want a verified Vortex product, Optics Planet is a great source. Excellent price for an outstanding red-dot at an incredible price.
I won't lie, I have bought replicas on Ebay. And side by side, you can see the difference. But if you want the Vortex warranty for a firearm known for high recoil (Mini-14), it's worth the price over the knock-offs.
