Cold Steel Master Hunter Stonewashed
i am also having the same issue with the handle. i have bought this knife from two different online stores and both knives had the same problem. i sent pictures to the customer support at the first store that i bought it from and they said it should not be like that, so i returned it. the second one i bought from opticsplanet had the same problem. i have several other knives with the same sheath and handle material and none of them have this problem. the knives that don't have this problem are made in Taiwan. i have had issues lately with the handles on several cold steel knives (pendleton hunter and pendleton mini hunter). i like this knife so much that i bought one for me and one as a gift for my father, but cold steel's quality control seems to be slipping imo. opticsplanet had free shipping and the best price when you apply the discount code.
Pros:
- handle material
- Ambidextrous carry
- CPM-3v
- shealth
Cons:
- handle lockup with sheath

This isn't DLC coated!
I wanted to buy a Master Hunter with the DLC black coating on the blade. The description of this knife (at the time)was for that exact knife. When the knife arrived, it was not coated at all. I complained to OP and shortly afterwards I noticed an added sentence in their description saying the knife is "Stonewashed". Stonewashed and DLC are 2 different knives, now making the description ambiguous. After I did some homework, I learned that the black DLC version (Model 36CC) has been discontinued. The uncoated stonewashed version (Model 36CB) is what is now being produced. OP needs to update their description and photos. Otherwise, it's a great knife that doesn't come with a rust inhibiting coating anymore. They are also made in Italy now. The handle is a little wider than the Taiwanese DLC model. This means that you have to push harder to get it seated in the sheath. This creates some stress on the sheath causing the 2 halves of the sheath to push apart at the knife handle end.
Pros:
- razor sharp
- Quality steel
- Not too big
- Not too small
Cons:
- Needs added attention to prevent rust
- Sheath fit needs to be addressed
Best Used for:
- hunting
- camping
- Backwoods travel
