Most Helpful Positive Review Straight and sturdy!
i received my Cold Steel Walkabout Stick and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very straight and sturdy for a molded stick! It has an embossed woodgrain which gives it a baseball bat feel. It also has a couple of scoring lines for a guide on the bottom tip in the event it needs to be sh...

Most Helpful Negative Review Heavy, Clunky; Don't buy this
I've had walkabout sticks. This isn't it. If you want an amazing stick, find a black locust sapling, cut it down, strip the bark off it while the wood is still wet (because you'll work ten times as hard if the wood dries) and finish while it's wet it with -- and I'm not joking even a little -- a s...

For the Money, SUPER

by ZaztheOne, from NC, United States Written on July 6, 2025
I had an earlier Walkabout. My son did more hiking than I did. He used the original hiking the Colorado Trail, parts of the Appalachian Trail, climbing Superstition Mountain. Since he was using the wooden Walkabout all the time. I decided to get me one. The new model was synthetic. I was a little taken back since I really liked the original but I got one. I really have liked it. Very durable, good for walking and I'm betting good for defense.

It's a cane right?

by Shadow, from CA, United States Written on March 25, 2022
Solid cane wood grain detail, rounded simi-baseball end. It is scored at the bottom to cut if needed shorter. After height adjustment you will need a rubber tip flat or rounded I have a flat at the moment. I'm 5'4" 1/2 didn't cut so I can have distance from attackers. Had to use 9 months ago from attackers. The length helped to keep them at bay. Made solid contact on one attacker ribs which took the air out of him but he caught the cane between his ribs and inner bicep then used the leverage to swing him into a car and went to town afterwards before the other attackers came to his aid; that's when the length came in handy again. Practice with cane of/for different swinging angles. Also, it might be a attacking magnet for someone to take from you as a trophy; so be aware of your surroundings and have situational awareness. If your thinking about a came though this is not a bad option.
Pros:
  • Solid and won't break/Not sold on site as far as I can tell.
Cons:
  • Will need to buy a tip.
Best Used for:
  • Someone with a disability
