Great light for the money
I'd been looking for a light for a long time and came across this one. Paid just over 100 for it, incredible value. 1 cr123 battery, bright as could be, illuminates very well. Switching modes takes about 5 seconds. Wish could be a single tap, double tap type programming to go between on and flash...

The main reason for buying a light to put a pistol is to enhance its
functionality, safety, or usefulness. This logically would mean that a pistol with
a Crimson Trace Rail Master Universal Tactical Light attached should be More Functional or More Useful.

Crimson Trace Pistol Light
Strong clear pistol light image. Easy operating switches. Fits tight under pistol.
I would recommend Crimson Trace pistol light as a quality product.

Stopped Working
While it works, it's fine, especially for the price. Sadly the price seems to be indicative of build quality. I thought issues were battery related, for which I was impressed with their free battery program. However it soon became clear it was the light itself that was the issue, and Crimson Trace didn't seem to want to hear it. The thing flat out won't turn on. When it still would, it only ever strobed after about a year of VERY light ownership. Will probably never purchase anything else by CT again.

Great value weapon light!
I use these on a few of my home defense pistols and I favor them very much. For the price, they are very good. The beam is even and not overly bright for cqb situations. Definitely recommend this product!
Pros:
- Quality and Affordable
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Home Defense

Great valued light for the price.
Despite people’s biased opinions of Crimson Trace, most of their products are solid and well constructed. I also like the aesthetics over other brands especially since I own mostly Smith and Wesson/M&P firearms. The cmr-209 light isn’t exceptionally bright, but for close quarters as a home defense light it is more than adequate.
Pros:
- value
- appearance and finish
- Size and controls
Cons:
- None for the cost
Best Used for:
- Home defense, plinking, duty, shtf.

Crimson Trace Rail Lite.
Literally the easiest piece of kit I’ve added to a weapon. Slides right on to the place you prefer on the rail. The ambidextrous instant on - off/on paddle switches are large and super easy to find and operate. I bought two and I’m buying three more.
Pros:
- illumination
- Eas of use.
- Easy mount
- apperance
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Subcompact automatics and larger pistols

Very nice, lightweight and good brightness.
If you are looking for a simple light with momentary or continuous on that is lightweight and affordable, you have found it. I put an O-light Valkyrie on my PMR-30 and it was bulky and made the balance off. Then I got this and it was a perfect fit, lightweight and balanced well.
At 200 lumens this isn't the brightest out there, and it uses the less common CR-2 batteries but overall I would expect this to be a $90-100 light. For around $70 you can buy this light and a big pack of the odd batteries and be in good shape for years of operation.
Also I really like the positive feel of the switches (ambidextrous), as compared to others like the O-light. They are more of a paddle that hangs back off the light, easy to operate bare handed or with gloves. The rubber pushbutton switches on the Valkyrie are less likely to get bumped on, but also seem like they would be very hard to operate with gloves on.
For perspective, I have 2 of the Valkyrie's sitting on my shelf and this light mounted on my PMR. I came here to buy another one of these and still am not sure what those other lights will go on. Maybe the front end of an AR or something, but I am already getting another CMR-209 even though I don't know what to put it on yet.

Crimson Rail Light for Glock 17
I usually do not write poor reviews but to keep anyone from buying this, even though the return process with Opticts Planet was very easy, I feel some information should be presented. The Crimsons plastic was nothing compared to what I thought it would be. It was very very cheap even compared to Chinese and Taiwan standards, I am not exaggerating that statement. The rail light did come with many conversions so it would great to be able to switch out on multiple sidearms leaving people saving lots by not having to purchase one on every weapon, which is awesome! Where the light mounts on the G17 leaves the button way in front of the trigger, so much so that reaching to use it quickly is literally impossible unless you have a 7” index finger. If you were intending to use this as I was, on my g17, for situations in my home where I needed to have my weapon pulled and a light on a possible assailant to see in a dark home, not being able to reach the trigger light without hitting it with another hands finger was a deal breaker. This could EASILY be solved by extending the rail key way further back leaving button close to trigger guard like it shows on the pictures and website. That is misleading and it does not at all. It also does nothing to fix the quality of the plastic it was made from either. If anyone reads this by all means do as you want but be warned that this is a highly cheap product and not worth $10 at all. It’s like buying the cheapest flashlight you’ve ever seen or so...

Just bought a 2nd from OpticsPlanet
Lets go back to Black Friday 2019. My local gun shop in CT had some amazing deals for Black Friday. Being a new permit holder, I wanted some budget friendly guns to get my feet wet in the process. They had the Smith & Wesson SD9VE 9mm with this Crimson Trace light attached for 269$. After researching the CT tact light, I realized I am getting the Smith for under $200! SOLD!!!!
After checking out the light post purchase I was obsessed. This is one the of best looking, easy to function, quality tact lights I have ever come across. I quickly looked up where I can buy a 2nd and stumbled on a great deal from OpticsPlanet! Now I have a 2nd CT tact light on my Glock 17. BUY IT!

Pros:
- I love everything about it.
Cons:
- I remove the battery before putting it in my travel case, incase the light turns on with pressure from closing the case.
Best Used for:
- Nightstand home defense, instantly lights the room.

As good as expected
Light is as advertised. Fitment was good. Doesn't stick past muzzle. Wish light was brighter. For a HD pistol will do the trick. Will not fit in many holsters. So if that is an issue do not buy. Have not shot many rounds with it on the weapon. I don't know how it will hold up to recoil.
