Most Helpful Positive Review very nice barrel but heavy
Like the title says, and as another reviewer mentioned, this barrel is heavy. I have one in 12.5” and it weighs 4lbs...I wish I had paid more attention to this before purchasing, but at the time of purchase (and as of now) finding a good .223 Wylde barrels is kind of difficult. But on a positive no...

Most Helpful Negative Review 14.5 .233 wylde
I like the barrel, but for whatever reason, it just feels a lot heavier than what was stated in the specs. It makes my AR very unbalanced. I’ve only put a couple hundred rounds through it so hopefully I can get used to it, otherwise I’ll have to dump it. Pretty expensive dump.

Do people need to read?

by Patriot, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on March 9, 2024
I was searching for a high quality, medium profile, chrome lined barrel, and decided on this one. I don’t understand other negative reviews. It’s very easy to read the details for this product line and find out its weight and description.

If you don’t want an HBAR, but want something thicker than a Government profile, and don’t want to spend more than mid 200’s, this is it IMO. I’ve seen other brands offer similar products but call them “SoCom” profiles.

The chrome job is beautiful. I’ve shot many Criterion barrels in the past with the .223 wylde 1:8 setup and they were tac drivers, I expect this one to be the same.

Buy a adjustable gas block with this barrel, seriously over gassed!

by Tim Grace, from ID, United States Written on August 15, 2022
I have a 16” hybrid and it’s so over gassed that I’m up to h3 buffer weight and it’s still ejecting out at 1:30. My next and only other option is a adjustable gas block. For all the hype about Criterion you’d think they could get the gas port size figured out or at least respond to emails about it.
Pros:
  • Accurate
Cons:
  • None

Criterion 14.5 barrel

by Durango, from GA, United States Written on February 23, 2022
Great quality, a little heavier that expected, but would definitely recommend to anyone building a high quality AR. The dimple made it super easy to align the gas block and adds extra security to it. The fit and finish were superb, while the hybrid contour might be a little heavier that gov. profile, it adds a lot of stability and recoil management when engaging multiple targets with multiple rounds per tgt.
Pros:
  • Fit and finish, quality
  • Fit, finish and quality
Cons:
  • little heavy
Best Used for:
  • All purpose AR

great upgrade

by East Tennessee, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on December 30, 2021
After some research I knew I wanted a .223 Wylde barrel I just wasn’t sure from which maker. I ended up picking Criterion. First I bought their 12.5 and liked it so much I bought 2 more for some 14.5 builds.

CBI Excellence

by TX2A, from TX, United States Written on December 12, 2021
CBI is synonymous with quality, in my book. I have several of their barrels in different calibers, all chrome lined and exceptional. Some of the other reviewers have complained about the weight, but it is on par with other manufacturers in the comparable lengths. Their 14.5” is 1.85lbs and the 16” comes in at 2.05”, for a non pencil barrel that you can really sling some lead it performs well. This barrel is intended to provide more material for rigidity and greater heat absorption. All of my barrels shoot sub-moa given quality ammo and a competent shooter. If you want a more balanced rifle check out their CORE series but be prepared to wait, as they have been sold out everywhere.
Pros:
  • Quality
  • Accurate
  • chrome lining
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Shoot the heck out of it!!

Criterion barrel

by Stephen, from WA, United States Written on June 8, 2020
What can i say that hasn't been said already? Top tier barrel. Precise fit and finish. Dimpled at the bottom for a set screw. It helps align front sight posts for pinning. I don't know the gas port size for their carbine length barrels but it's the smoothest carbine gas Staten ive ever fired.
Pros:
  • Great fit and finish. Accurate.

  • None
