Most Helpful Positive Review If these kits are as good as they were in 2016, they are an unrivaled deal for an old-school build.
In 2016 I decided to pick up my first AR15. I had never seen one as inexpensive as this gun kit, plus it featured exactly what I was interested in, which was an M16A4-style build. I assembled the rifle, tuned up the trigger a little, and hit the range. Iron sight groups at 50 yards with several b...

Most Helpful Negative Review kinda sucks.
Took longer than originally quoted to ship. When it finally arrived, it was missing multiple pieces. Specifically in the LPK. Almost comical because there are “inspected by: #021” notes everywhere. Whoever #021 is really dropping the ball. Overall, pretty disappointed.

You get what you pay for?

by D, Verified Owner from ID, United States Written on January 26, 2025
I picked this up at the price of $395 during a sale. It is very low quality. Charging handle was bendy, very soft metal. The upper machining looked like an airsoft gun. The handguards were airsoft quality. Not built to “outlast the restrictions of Prohibition.” Not even worth the $395. Returned the kit for a refund.

beyond impressed

by MikeOhio, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on December 29, 2022
I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading the earlier reviews. My kit showed up with everything it’s supposed to have and I am impressed by everything about it. The barrel machining looks incredible under the bore scope, the upper receiver is a keyhole which is my favorite to build from and the hand guard comes installed on the triangle end cap. These are just a few of the details that people weren’t mentioning but I noticed. This is a legit steal at the MSRP let alone the Optics planet price. Oh and btw, the lower parts kit looks exactly the same as the CMMG ones I used recently, you can tell by the fine details. The mag release is one area where it shows. I’m telling you, but this upper, there’s no way someone received the same kit I did and could complain. I LOVE this kit

Bolt and Carrier problems

by Marty Brown, from NC, United States Written on April 21, 2022
The carrier gas key was loose and not staked. Looks like the staking process was skipped altogether. The extractor had the spring but not the rubber O-ring tensioner. All other parts seem to be low quality but functional. I have not shot the rifle yet so don't know about function or accuracy.
Pros:
  • Price
Cons:
  • Quailty

Blem upper receiver

by Taylor, Verified Owner from MS, United States Written on August 29, 2021
The kit i recieved was in good condition. It wasnt missing any parts. How ever problem i saw was the upper receiver was a blem. Its supposed to be a cardinal forging mark but it is a solid blob. It doesnt affect how it works but its not listed as having defects.

Also Missing Components

by Verified Purchaser, from SC, United States Written on December 28, 2020
This package was also missing components. The entire safety selector and buffer retaining spring were not in the package. I can understand a simple spring being missing, but the safety selector is a large part. Most manufactures use a system to weigh the components before they are sent out. Besides that, the kit appears to be of good quality. Now that I have to purchase additional parts, the value of the product has been lost. This kit was purchased almost solely due to it's price. Of the dozens of kits we have purchased from various manufacturers, we have yet to have a parts kit missing a major component like this. Ironically even the dirtiest AK parts kit from a former combloc country still had all of it's pieces. I will take in account the massive push for parts in this political climate, along with Covid as a reason for the drop in quality control. That being said, I will not likely purchase another unit from this company.
