Expert Review
Good clarity, durabilty, and easy to use.
I mounted this on a flat top AR-15 with the DI Optical 3x Magnifier. Clarity was good, no glare from the lights that were right above and in front of me at the range, and I could acquire the target quickly every time. Works perfectly with the magnifier as well, they align exactly, making longer range shooting a snap. Brightness adjustment offered plenty of options for any lighting environment (including a couple settings for night vision that I wasn't able to test). Build quality is excellent, you can tell it's well made the moment you open the box. Held zero throughout a non-stop full day at the range with no problems, every shot was dead on. The built in rubber caps are nice as the tabs above them hold them up out of the way like a flip-up cap (although you'll want to flip the rear one up before moving the magnifier into place). This is a great all-around red dot sight, especially combined with the magnifier.

FINALLY, a true combat optic at a good price!!!!
I tend to be pretty rough on gear. Truth is, even “ruggedized” gear doesn’t last long with me. This usually means I pay a fortune for my equipment –you generally get what you pay for. As money gets tighter, I’ve started searching out the best deals I can get. Usually, it just means the best prices. Sometimes, I try new products out and get lucky.
Several weeks ago, I purchased the DI Optical RV1 dot sight from Optics Planet. The RV1 is advertised as a “combat-grade” optic that has passed MIL-STD 810G Durability Testing. In plain English, that means this sight is TOUGH. DI Optical is a South ...

Broken after 3 outings
Was initially thrilled with this unit but on the third shoot, it has failed miserably. Will not hold zero after one shot on an AR15. 5.56. Not much recoil. I’m not talking a small adjustment. It’s a foot or more off at 75yds after one shot. I adjust it and fire and it’s gone again. Something broken inside. This weapon is barely used and always goes from the safe to a padded hard case. I think I’m out of warranty but hoping OP helps me out on this. Unable to reach customer service due to the current “situation “

DI Optical RV1
Great sight for the price. Installed on a AR15 pistol with 7.5 barrel. Rock solid mount, easy install and setup. Integrated dust caps lock up nicely when opened, no more caps flapping in the wind. Clean retainer cable on the elevation and windage screws is a plus as well. Minor adjustment was needed to site in, seems to stay on center , rock solid so far with 300+ rounds.

Great optic at a great price
This is an impressive red dot for the money.
It is built like a tank...the parallax is less than of a MRO. Uses a AA battery (the factory battery is not a lithium one so I would recommend putting one in instead of the OEM provided battery).
Mount has a solid cross bolt. The flip up caps are heavy duty.
Anodizing is about the same quality as a Holosun. It has an optical clarity of a H1/T1.
Heck of a value.

DI Optic as good as Aimpoint PRO
An awesome sight for the money, compare to Aimpoint PRO, very well constructed, solid mount, and uses readily available AA battery. The Optics Planet website was very easy to use and the sight was quickly shipped to my home.

Tougher Than Nails Beater
95% Aimpoint quality at 50% the price. It is no less durable than an Aimpoint PRO, comparable weight, very good battery life (mine has been on medium for last 10 months on single lithium AA battery) and is attractive looking. The dials are more coarse than Aimpoint, but still adequate for 50 or 100 yard zero. Premium product at excellent price.
Pros:
- Price
- Durability
- Quality
Cons:
- Coarse Windage/Elevation Adjustments
Best Used for:
- Home Defense
- CQB Carbine
- CQB Rifle
- Police Patrol Rifle

DI Optical RV1
I bought a demo model on sale with a discount and free shipping. Arrived as new. Well made rugged red dot using it on my AR15. Doesn't co-witness exactly but I usually keep the sights folded down. If the red dot fails, which I doubt due to it's construction, I can easily see the sights through the scope if I need them. 20,000 hours of AA battery life works for me.
Pros:
- Uses regular AA battery
- Top of the line
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Short to Medium Range

Good sight but heavy
This sight is built like a tank. I have astigmatism so I don’t know how crisp the dot would be to other shooters but it looks just like my aimpoint dots. The scope caps are designed really well. I wish aimpoint had the same ones. They are rugged and stay out of the way when open. The mounting is a thumb screw. It seems solid and hasn’t loosened between two range sessions. The sight has held zero so far. The adjustments are 1 MOA which isn’t ideal but works OK for a red dot. The adjustment has tactile and audible clicks. I’m used to micro red dots and when I put this on the rifle I could feel the weight. It’s big and heavy but it’s the only budget sight I would take a chance on because they are NATO compliant sights built by a reputable military contractor.
Pros:
- Durability
- battery life
- user interface
Cons:
- weight
- size
Best Used for:
- Home Defense
- Recreation

Good inexpensive RDS
I have used this RDS on .308 & .223 rifles. This RDS appears very well made for the price and the fit and finish is good. The red dot has plenty of brightness adjustment and once place holds zero well. I like that it has a "1.5" dot and the "flip-up" end-caps work well.
Pros:
- Inexpensive and effective
- Well Made And Designed
Cons:
- NONE !

Aimpoing/ACOG quality without the price
Very rugged housing. It's big, kinda hefty ("but weight means reliability"), definitely rugged, but I'll take the extra heft in exchange for giving less cash. Clear glass and dot is bright enough during the day. When looking at the dot inside the house, it seemed blurry or hazy, but outside perfect round dot. Only thing I didn't like was the mount (it's not a QD). So cranked it down and marked it to have a visual confirmation on any movement/loosening. Shot about 60rds. I'll give another review after some more rounds and carry/usage.
Pros:
- Rugged, durable, versatile good value
Cons:
- None
