Most Helpful Positive Review Good for thin rifles
I actually got this not realizing the rifle compartment is too small for an ar15 with a 20 round mag and a low profile rds on it. That was disappointing, but it will fit a traditional bolt action rifle or shotgun, as long as they don't have pistol grips. Storage for everything else is pretty good. L...

Most Helpful Negative Review great idea, with a flaw... Rain
This pack is great, unless you get stuck in rain or snow. with no cover for the butt of your rifle rain or snow runs down your rifle into the rifle sleeve. there is also no drain hole. Also the opening for the rifle sleeve catches water even with no rifle because it stays open theres no snaps or fla...

Gunrunner Pack Review

by chadchamp, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on June 29, 2025
Eberlestock H2 Gunrunner Backpack with Mountain camo pattern bought and tested in preparation for upcoming hunting season. Material, zippers, and comfort is high quality and well designed. large enough to carry plenty of water in bottle pouches and internal bladder pocket. However the bottle pouches should be deeper because my 32oz. Nalgene kept falling out so had to attach. Large gear pouch at top for easy access and an internal lanyard for clipping vehicle keys. Main compartment has plenty of room for rain gear or mid weight jacket with room for other items. Strap adjustments are easy, comfortable and have lots of expansion. Carrying a 12 gauge for testing and didn't notice/feel the firearm against my back. Several MOLLE type strips for add on pouches. Very pleased with purchase.
Pros:
  • Perfect size for manueverbility
Cons:
  • Bottle pouches too shallow
Best Used for:
  • day hunt / hike with firearm

A great go to the range bag

by itguru, from OR, United States Written on February 19, 2025
I've been using this to pack my rifle out to silhouette matches and it's great. Has more than enough room for a day of shooting and it's great on the back or just riding with you in a vehicle. Offer some protection from your rifle banging around on the floorboards. The way the scabbard folds in is really cool to make it more compact if your packing something short or not at all.

The grab handle at the top is super handy for pulling out of the trunk or backseat. You can tie up all the straps so it operates more like a duffle with less to snag, if you're just running it in the vehicle.
Best Used for:
  • Packing a rifle

Carry’s a rifle and a small amount of other things.

by Wyo Ben, Verified Owner from WY, United States Written on April 6, 2024
I am 6’ 190#. This pack in my opinion will comfortably carry up to 20# of gun&gear. After that the small waist belt becomes and issue. 20# really isn’t that much when you consider rifle, rests, medical, and water. For me it’s a great pack for its use window
Pros:
  • Works well for intended purposes
Cons:
  • Small waistbelt is easy to max out
Best Used for:
  • Short light fast trips

Oh hey Eberlestock - I’m 5’3”, 127 lbs and need a lightweight rifle carry pack that doesn’t hit me in the back of head and my knee pite. I’ll wait. But I’m not bery patient though so bought this one to sustain me.
Pros:
  • Scabbard - holds more than I though!
Cons:
  • Not asjustable enough for the fun sized.

Comfortable and easy

by Tony, from NY, United States Written on December 17, 2022
Used it during hunting season to take a fairly heavy long and heavy gun to a spot overlooking a large field and was quite easy for the hike enjoyed it a lot held a large fluffy suit for tree stand sit well made the walk in easier.
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • Handled carrying a 48 inch rifle
  • Enough room for daily needs on hunt
Cons:
  • Pocket for water can be difficult to get bottle in or out but didn't fall out well walking through brush
  • Do need to unhook the middle buckle to get gun with scope in or out, mild inconvenience but not a problem. More useful than not having it.
Best Used for:
  • Light hike hunts and daily hunts

Great Pack

by Garrett, from PA, United States Written on February 5, 2019
I bought this pack to use for coyote hunting. I was worried about my icotec outlaw not fitting in the main compartment according to the measurements. To my surprise up fit but it's a tight fit. But I can fit my primos alpha dog in there along with at predator tactics spotlight with extra batteries. The top compartment has all my hand calls and the remotes for the Ecallers. I also put my shooting sticks in the water bottle holder then strap them down and it works great. My AR 15 fits easily in the gun scabbard up to the grip with the mag out. All in all I love this pack it's very well made only reason for 4 stars is because it took nearly 2 weeks to receive it.

Great for hunting

by Johnny, Verified Owner from Western Cape, South Africa Written on October 2, 2017
I got this rifle backpack for hunting in the African bush. Conditions dictate that walking through thick bushes that you constantly have to take your rifle off your shoulder to prevent scratching of the barrel and stock. This backpack really frees up both arms and your rifle is very well protected. A part of the stock is still exposed above your head bit in most cases this is not an issue. In very thick bush I pull a gator over the exposed stock to prevent scratching from thorns.

The backpack is very well made and top quality materials are used. Stitching is excellent. I would definitely recomment for hunting in African conditions, bush, Kalahari or Karoo.
Pros:
  • protects gun while hunting
  • Good Quailty
Cons:
  • none I experienced
Best Used for:
  • hunting

Eberlestock H2 Gunrunner

by jnc, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 25, 2017
This is a great pack. It has more room than you expect and it is built with Eberlestock quality. What is really great is how much you can expand it and all the versatility of this pack. There are 5 different Molle web locations, one on top, midway, bottom and 1 on each side. The sides fit the saddle bags I have perfectly. It has one large main compartment with a hydration pocket. 2 hose ports coming out both sides of the top of the pack to accommodate the left or right side. It has one long pocket on the outside back of the pack and the top cover has a zippered storage area. You can add accessory pouches all over to store small items you want easily available.
The shoulder harness on the new H2 is adjustable. Great pack!
Pros:
  • Versatility
Cons:
  • Small belt, but can be replaced with a larger belt.
Best Used for:
  • Day pack

Eberlestock H2 gunrunner

really well done backpack, well-made, worth all the money spent!
The material is made, it remains silky, the speargun bag is large enough for an assault rifle long and has many pockets for carrying everything you need.
You can mount a camelback, to buy separately and the shoulder straps are comfortable and do not bother with prolonged use.
The color I chose was really nice and very well camouflaged in the bush.
I recommend it to everybody.
