Most Helpful Positive Review EGW scope base
This base was installed onto a S&W 686 stainless steel revolver and was used to mount a red dot optic. After removing the original rear sights the factory drilled and tapped screw holes were exposed on the top strap of the revolver for mounting the scope base. The base fit perfectly even and level on to the revolver and the screw holes in the base lined up correctly with the factory screw holes. The base had an even looking finish and the spacing between the recoil slots was even. The supplied screws fit correctly and did not require shortening.

Just what I needed

This fit my 929 perfect. Came with screws and the torx driver to install. I will not hesitate to buy another EGW product. My red dot sight was a perfect fit and it's long enough that a regular handgun scope will be accommodated also.

The EGW S&W M617 scope/ optics base I purchased through Optics Planet
works perfectly. It was easy to install, light weight, had a just right fit and
it is very stable. Additionally, Optics Planet price was reasonable.
I liked this scope base so well, I am planning to buy another one
for a M686. *****Highly recommended. DW

EGW Smith and Wesson Revolver Scope Mount

by rooster02, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on November 11, 2014
Mounting a red dot on a S&W revolver? The EGW Weaver mount is the best value I have found. Optics Planet delivered quickly; this is the second EGW mount I have ordered. Both mounts fit the S&W revolver well. Adding a little light weight thread locker on the attaching screws make this rail secure, even on a 44 cal. Just remove the stock open sight, fitting the EGW in its place, mount your red dot and your are good to go. If I need to mount more red dots on S&W revolvers, the price and function of the EGW scope mount has not been beat.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Function
  • quaility
Cons:
  • None
