Most Helpful Positive Review F-1 Durabolt 5.56 Tin
I opted for the gold tin color and the finish is awesome. I have 500 rounds with no issue. Minor wear on the rails that have the most metal to metal contact but that’s expected after use. This is my first bcg that has a coating other than phosphate or nitride and I’m very happy with the upgrade. It ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Faulty Casing Ejection
I bought this BCG to try it out. Put in a 10.5" 300 Blackout pistol after cleaning it and throwing on a coat of oil. Experienced sparatic case ejection malfunctions. Threw in another BCG and problem solved. Broke down the BCG and found a piece of plastic underneath the gas key, and the ejector sprin...

Hard to compete with

by Luke Bowman, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on October 8, 2023
This was one of my best decisions buying this BCG, yes it is a bit pricey but it's worth it. The finish makes it so slick that you could run the rifle dry if you so pleased. I've ran about 400 rounds through my new rifle I built and have cleaned it twice, any dirt that accumulates can be wiped off with a paper towel in 15 seconds, it's unfathomably easy to clean. Haven't had a single malfunction and love the rose gold finish with the FDE furniture. If you're on the fence just get it, you won't be disappointed.
Pros:
  • Easy to install
  • reliable
  • High quaility
Cons:
  • Pricey

Silver and Gold

by Jason, from MO, United States Written on July 24, 2023
I don't know how many more of these are going to have the F*1 brand mark... but I got mine. A silver and a gold, both excellent finish as far as I can tell. The bolts are very average, one of my two has a messy ejector roll pin, I'm highly likely going to sub in JP bolts instead. But the carriers seem worth the price - no flaws in the coatings, very good fit, identical to the photos. Also the logos are nicely engraved, not just etched in the coating, but of course not going to be many more of those since F*1 switched to Watchtower.
Pros:
  • Carrier coating
Cons:
  • Generic bolt, unpredictable branding
Best Used for:
  • Showing off in a skeletonized receiver

It took a long time to get

by Jon Ortiz, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on April 18, 2022
It has a real nice finish so it’s real easy to clean I try to clean it about every hundred rounds so I don’t get no carbon buildup and other than that it works pretty good no misfires for me and quite good piece of equipment

doesn’t have F1 on it.

by Layton Kopplin, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on October 1, 2021
I already had a basic BCG, I wanted one with F1 on it, I would’ve purchased a different BCG if I had known. It’s a Black BCG, plain black, nothing special here, just a black bolt carrier… the pictures are wrong will not have F1 on them.. again it works but so did the one I had.. so just me but I wasn’t wanting the same.. wanted something more custom.. thought that’s what this was.. not what I received.
Best Used for:
  • AR-15 (if compatible)

Nitride BCG

by Johnny, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on August 18, 2021
Waited a year after ordering this product that said “in stock”. This bcg is nothing like the picture. It’s just a standard black, non-shining, no logo bcg that most companies use and slap their logo on.
Pros:
  • Back in stock after a year wait
Cons:
  • Bcg is nothing like the picture

Not the same as the picture.

by Logan E, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on August 14, 2021
Seems like a solid bolt but looks nothing like the picture. I ordered the nitride finish and it just looks like your standard bolt carrier group that I already had in my AR. It doesn’t have the same“color”/shine like the picture and doesn’t even have the F1 logo on it. Kinda disappointed.

Best Bolt Carrier Group?

by Robert Robinson, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on July 14, 2020
I might never know. This was clearly my first choice after reviewing quite literally, hundreds of bolt carrier groups. Unfortunately, it'll be months before I ever lay hands on one of these. I'm not sure if its the manufacturer not being able to keep up with supply and demand or if it's the fact that you can get one of these F-1's for less than $150 and EVERYONE is out of stock! It's happening with all manufacturers. Finding a bcg today is a next to impossible task. Still, my next build will have to wait for this one. It's truly that good of a bcg.

Fortunately, with the staff at Optics Planet, I was able to find a nickel boron bcg which also is extremely highly rated. They only had a few in stock so I ordered it instead for this build. I won't disclose the manufacturer since it is in competition with F-1 Firearms. But if you ever get the chance at one of these, I would take it in a heart beat.
Pros:
  • Exceptional quality
  • First Choice for BCG
Cons:
  • Takes way too long to get
Best Used for:
  • AR15 rifles & pistols

Incredible BCG

by BCM-RN, from MS, United States Written on August 9, 2019
I was on the fence about whether or not to buy this bcg and eventually just went for it. Best decision ever. It functions incredibly and reliably just as advertised, and when it comes to cleaning this is an absolute dream. Carbon basically wiped right of with no pressure or scrubbing required.

F-1 Durabolt in Rosegold

by OFF3ND3R, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on October 23, 2018
I have a few different brands of AR platform rifles and carbines. I like all of them, and all of them function very well. The weapon I have this bolt carrier group in is also an F-1 chassis so it seemed logical to put an F-1 bolt into it. Well logic be damned. I will now put their BCG’s into all of my AR platforms. This BCG is amazing and so is it’s PVD coating. Cleanup is a breeze just wipe it off with a rag. Carbon build up also comes smooth off with little effort. The coatings F-1 offers are not only beautiful but have a function. The rose gold coating as well as the DLC, Gold and Silver PVD all have very low friction coefficients. That translates into using little to no oil for perfect function. It’s coating is also harder than standard DD steel so it cuts into anything it hits and doesn’t scratch up at all. If you want a great BCG that looks good and is very reliable look at F-1, you will not be disappointed!
Pros:
  • performance
  • reliability
  • Look and finish
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Any AR platform rifle.

F-1 Firearms Durabolt

by Ken, from TX, United States Written on September 12, 2018
Got this bolt in black nitride and put about 100 rounds through it the first day. 0 problems out of the box. Put a little Rem oil on before shooting and wiped clean afterwards. As for the longevity I am unsure but I’m pretty happy with it so far.
Pros:
  • Quality
  • Inexpensive
Cons:
  • None
