10/22 pencil Barrel
This Barrel is very accurate. After a day planking I can put shots in the same hole without nicking the paper. It makes the rifle easy to walk with without being cumbersome like 920 barrels. It's almost half the weight of my other 10/22 that have the bull barrel installed. If you're on the fence jum...

Nice product but looked used
The barrel I got looked very nice, but appeared to be used and was very dirty. Rifling of the barrel looked to already have carbon buildup. I'm not sure if it was used, but I ended up returning it to not risk it.
Great Truck Rifle
I have this barrel in a BRN-180 receiver and bolt. It lives in an 80's vintage Choate pistol grip non-folder stock. I have a Burris Fastfire 3 on it.Great truck gun for various field varmints.
Pros:
- Super light, fast, accurate.
Cons:
- Use heat on the receiver and cool the barrel tenon to fit.
Best Used for:
- Shootin' stuff!

Great light weight barrel
The barrel fit to a Ruger receiver was tight and had to be tapped in even after freezing it. Not a bad fit, just something to be alert to. This was about half the weight of the factory barrel. Unfortunately I have not yet tested for accuracy, seems to be at leased as good as the factory barrel, and cycles as well. Fit and Finish was good. I need this to drop the weight for a youth rifle and it did the job.

Bro bob ( 10 characters? all my friends drank themselves to death) when ur 80 yrs. old , all ur f
This pencil barrel is just what the doc ordered !!! I'm up in age and he told me not to lift anything heavy and i've got the litest Ruger 10/22 in town . Just waiting for the right optics to go on sale to have the best 'fun gun' ever ! Thanks OP & Faxon this 1 lb. barrel

Too tight and questionable accuracy
Froze the barrel and heated the receiver. Still REALLY tight. Had 6” groups at 50 yards. Was ready to trash the barrel. Then I noticed that it was tearing up my fiber cleaning rod. Switched to a stainless steel rod and it was shaving groves into it. Knew I was not going to be able to remove it for return without destroying the receiver so I decided to see if I could fix the issue. Took a 45 degree hone to the crown and took off the sharp rifling burr and accuracy improved to 1.5 inches at 50 yards. Still not great. I might have to putt it in the lathe and cut a new crown.
Pros:
- Lightweight
Cons:
- Too tight in the receiver and poor accuracy.

Doesn't fit
The barrel doesn't fit my stock 10/22 reciever. You shouldn't have to heat your reciever or barrel to make them fit together....buyer be aware.

tight fit to receiver
I had to use the screws and barrel retainer to pull this barrel into the receiver, Even after heating the receiver. I guess that’s a good thing, being tight. Just don’t see this barrel ever coming back off.

Terrible fit
Would not fit my receiver. I froze the barrel and heated the receiver and still had to pound the barrel in. Needless to say, this barrel will no NEVER come out of my receiver.

tighter then a you know what
Product is fine. Haven’t shot through it much but have other faxon barrels and I’m not worried about that part. Barrel fitment was WAYYYYYYY too tight. It was stupid and it will never come out. Also the finish isn’t super great. And pencil barrel should definitely be lighter. But it wasn’t much less then factory. All in all not stoked, but not super upset either. Just bleh
Pros:
- Faxon DOES have a good reputation
Cons:
- too tight
- Bad finish
Would recommend: No
Improves with shooting
No complaints at all, it installs properly. I used one of these on a 10/22 for me, and used a different brand for my wife’s 10/22….After completing both guns. Hers shot better than mine. Mine originally shot “ok” but hers was excellent. Hers was MORE expensive, I still wasn’t unhappy. As I continued to shoot mine, after a brick or so, mine now shoots at least as good as the other brand, mine might actually be the more accurate of the two now. Easily much lighter than’ factory too…..
Pros:
- Value, weight
Cons:
- Needs break in
Best Used for:
- Value

Nice barrel, tight fit.... maybe too tight
Bought this pencil profile barrel for a factory Ruger receiver installed in a Midwest Industries chassis.
The biggest issue is the fit. As far as I can tell it's OD is exactly the same as the ID of the factory receiver which made getting it installed a giant pain in tha... I smoothed the inside of the receiver and outside of the barrel that fits into the receiver with 2000 grit sandpaper and it still took heating up the receiver with a heatgun to get the barrel to fit. And even then, just barely.
I botched the first attempt and the barrel was slightly out of alignment with the bolt and extractor. This caused substantial feeding issues, every 5 rounds or so, making it unusable. Getting the barrel out of the receiver was even more difficult than getting it in. It took an hour or so but I was finally able to get the barrel removed and reinstalled in the correct orientation and it's worked great ever since.
For anyone else facing the same issue I'd suggest taking a little more time initially to sand the part of the barrel that slots into the receiver. Maybe start with a 400 or 600 grit, and just work it until it can slide freely into the receiver.
Installation issues aside, the barrel itself seems to doing fine. Mine is set up as a plinker with a red dot so I can't really speak to precision groups or anything beyond fist sized 25 round groups at 50 yards. Which seems fine for a red dot. It's light enough that the rifle has a really nice balance in the Midwest Industries chas...
