Barrel is out of spec. Tried two Faxon bcgs in it. Both would get locked in the chamber but worked with another 308 barrel. I would not recommend it. It's a dangerous defect that seems to be common.

Building a 308 compact hunting rifle. Great quality and it has the longer gas block surface that allows the use of an adjustable RifleSpeed
gas block for my suppressor. Very accurate and I'm pleased with it.

I ordered the 18" version of this barrel. It had terrible accuracy due to a defect in the chamber that scratched every bullet and casing that went into the gun. Contacted Faxon, they agreed to replace the barrel. They never sent a new barrel, they haven't responded to any emails after agreeing to RMA my barrel. Stay away from Faxon.
Cons:
- No customer service - broken promises

Bought this as a new build for a truck/hog gun. Arrived with a few scratches (not a deal breaker) but only worth 4 stars for that. Barrel shoots tight and handles well. The only con I would have would be that the gas block area didn’t have indentions for the set screws but again, not a deal breaker.

I had a 20 inch barrel on my Maten-308 that weighed 50.4 ounces, great barrel but just too heavy so i bought this Faxon and swapped them out.
Drooped just over a full pound but it feels a full ton lighter.
Havent broke in the barrel yet but it shoots just fine so far.
Getting just over an inch MOA with ball ammo so i expect an easy sub MOA with the good stuff.
Very pleased over-all with bith Faxon and Optics Planet

Shoots nice from bench as I have shot sub MOA groups with it but also does well to shoot offhand. Using Aero Precision Upper and lower receiver and bolt carrier group everything fits nicely together and comes in at 8 and a half pounds with empty magazine. Balance is great. Faxon did a good job of making a great shooting barrel and also keeping it lightweight. i would recommend this to anyone who wants to build a well rounded AR 308 rifle.

Great Barrels, shoot great , clean great. I've used a bunch of them, never had a dud. I've used their 223 Wylde , 6.5 Creedmoor and 308 win barrels. All are very capable of sub 1/2 moa with good handloads. Factory decent ammo definitely under 1 moa. You won't shoot that well with a mil spec trigger.
Cons:
- Wish they were a little less $

Installation was a breeze. Visual inspection went well. I am running with a nickel boron Aero Precision bcg and everything matched up as hoped. For headspace I used Clymer Precision .308 match go/ no go set and everything went perfectly. I was a little surprised, due to the reviews, of how well it went, but the Clymer Precision's from Brownels, although a little more expensive, fit (or didn't fit) perfectly. No need for field gauge. I'm sure if you go with this barrel and a well known bcg you should be ok. I not only went with Aero Precision because of the brand itself, but also because they were one of the recommendations which can be found on Faxon Firearms webpage. I will update as to accuracy once I get to the range.
Pros:
- Go/No Go + Weight/ Thickness ratio
Best Used for:
- Plinking/ Hunting - white tail/ Target

bought this barrel on sale and threw it into a lightweight build, headspaced just fine with a cryptic coatings bcg and forster gauges, thought i would have tolerance stacking problems like the other review here, but everything worked first try no problem. got some nice vids of me shooting the rifle. had the chamber cut by patriot ordnance factory by purchasing their e-squared service, the necks of the cases have little black puffs from being pushed out w this feature, cheap effective barrel that was putting moa groupings with match ammo and a rest in windy conditions, no real need for a finer quality barrel unless you want to get scientifically accurate with all the rest of your parts or lock your rifle in a vise for shooting and really get serious, you pay exorbitantly for diminishing returns at that level, this barrel does it all for much less and to nearly the same degree as barrels costing 3x
