When the warranty ends so will your service seek elsewhere. I have a new unit with only 22 cal rounds out of it in 2 years while I trained and ran co. Recycled pos. Just don't
Pros:
- A way to spend money burning a hole in your pocket
Best Used for:
- throwing at a barking dog

I had trouble ordering the item and the service team for optics planet was amazing. The picture is super clear and awesome, already killed a few foxes and yotes with the scope. I can easily identify the way they move at 300 or 350 yards

Nice thermal it works well. It’s a little grainy, but I guess I’m nitpicking. It helps to put the unit on standby when you fire it up. Sometimes it will black out if you don’t let it boot up entirely. Optics planet seemed to have their act together during these difficult times, so that’s a plus as well.

I've had this scope for a few years but haven't yet been able to use it as a scope. Workmanship on the scope mount is poor and the cross-hairs are not level. I would take the time to fix this (Flir won't) but it would be a waste as it can't be used as a scope because the recoil of the rifle (.223) causes the scope to power reset. Try taking a follow up shot on a coyote when you have to wait for the scope to power cycle and reenter the scope settings because they have reset to 0. I have been trying to return the scope for repair since I got it but FLIR doesn't support their products. It took months just to get them to send me a firmware update.
The FLIR support process works like this. You call and it always goes to a recording for you to leave a callback number. They never call back. Left multiple voicemails over 2 years and I haven't had a call returned. Go to their web site support section and open an RMA. You get a system generated email response that they have received your inquiry and will follow up soon. The problem here is their idea of soon and that of the average person is vastly different. Multiple emails and inquiries over 2 years have resulted in not a single response from FLIR.
I give them one star because the optics are fair and can be used as a monocular. At least it's not a paper weight.

I purchased this june of 2018 and waited 4 weeks for delivery. Went with Flir because it is a recognizable brand name that does work with the Military and other first responders and such. I purchased with the intension of coyote hunting and a Hog hunt with my sons. Right now 03/20/2020 I am on my third failed unit and have completly lost faith in this unit. Sent in a new unit for repair and the send a reconditioned unit in each instance. I have used each unit probable less than a total of 1 hr for each of the 3 units. Needless to say, I never was able to book a Hog hunt when I have a Thermal imaging unit I cannot trust with my life.
Dont Buy!

I wish I could give this product less than one star. This scope zeroed easily in 45 minutes. The next time I tried the scope (hog hunting) the batteries were dead. I went home and put new batteries in the scope. It worked correctly so I turned it off, and then the next time I went to the woods the batteries were dead again. I had spare batteries with me this time, and when I put them in, the scope worked. I killed 3 wild hogs in less than a half hour. I turned the scope off and the batteries were dead again the next time I tried to use it. The scope has never worked or powered up since. It is completely dead. I have tried several brands of batteries and called customer service for advice. The one time I got a person on the phone, I was told the 233 has a long history of power switch problems. I have now shipped this useless waste of money back to FLIR for warranty repairs. FLIR customer service is difficult to get on the phone and never return calls or emails. I have 2 other FLIR products that work flawlessly, but the PTS233 is junk. Definitely better options from other brands at this price. DO NOT BUY

I am not one to ever review a product review but, this is the second time it has gone back to flir. First time "we can't find anything wrong". Second time, they have had it for one month. During hunting season no less. I recieved one email from flir two weeks in, only because I sent one asking what was up. I just blacked out!! You can hear it try to boot up but will not come on. Like the other review says, for $2100 you should expect it to work. One thing I want to be clear, optics planet has been great trying to help with flir. Two thumbs up to optics planet. Flir not so much. When it worked, I did kill hogs.
Pros:
- When it worked, I killed hogs

Purchased this scope 6 months ago. It was slow to boot up from day one. Never had a chance to mount it due to work. After sitting in the case for a few months it won't come on at all. New batteries, allowing extended boot up times, nothing. Now I contact OP and send off to flir. Likely gone for months. For more than 2K you'd think it'd work more than a week.
Cons:
- it does not work
- It wont work.

I purchased this optic for hog eradication at my lease. It has preformed flawlessly. The owners manual is easy to understand and the return to zero quick detachable mount is extremely convenient. The clarity of the screen and refresh rate is fantastic considering the entry level price. Flir makes great thermals and the PTS-233 Thermosight Pro is no exception. Over all I am very impressed and happy with my purchase.!

I have been very pleased with the quality of this scope. It is very clear out to 150 yards. Once you get passed that point you have to take it to 6X to take shots, which gets grainy. It will detect well passed 150 yards but to take accurate shots its best to keep it under 150 yards.
