Not sure how secure the lock is, but chainsaw car thieves don't carry around a lock pick set, drill or anything that can open this quickly, it feels sturdy enough to where slamming it against the ground or prying it with a knife won't do anything to open it, as long as you have the cable tied around something fixed in your car your typical thief won't be able to get into it or take it with them.

Putting my p365 (small carry gun) inside of it fits pretty snug, and unfortunately will not fit my compact holster without really squeezing it in which I don't like doing.

It also can be a decent night and safe, but it's not the quickest to get into, and if you don't have it tied to something it would be easy for a thief to walk away with and open when they have the tools.

An excellent value solution for those who have to leave firearms, wallets, and smaller valuables in their car. It's also light enough to be a practical TSA-complaint firearm travel case in checked airline luggage. Prior reviewers had mentioned a horrible smell from the padding. If you lean close, it's definitely not pleasant, but it's also not overwhelming, so hopefully that's something they fixed. The size will accommodate most handguns up to around 5" in barrel length. A Beretta 92 takes up the entire case. The construction is solid, so no casual thief will be able to get into it in a hurry. The biggest threat is having the entire box carried away. On that very real threat, as other reviewers have pointed out, the anti-theft cable is hardly robust. A smash-and-grab guy is not going to be able to pull it free with body weight, but he's not going to need full-on bolt cutters either. I'd suggest that means making the NV200 your out-of-sight container as opposed to a quick-reaction box, especially since it is key operated. Still, for the price, it's a nice upgrade to your security, especially if you've just been putting your firearms under the driver seat and hoping for the best.

The Nanovault NV 200 handgun safe (2x6x9) is a simple but effective way to lock and secure my S & W 3913 for transport between my home and cabin. The lock box is nothing fancy but works as expected and design. The box meets all requirements and keeps you legal while transporting as needed. I would buy again

I was looking for something to secure my pistol/wallet/etc. when I travel, specifically in the car or in a hotel.

I absolutely love this thing. I'm aware that any lock/safe can be defeated with enough time and tools, but for the normal smash and grab type job, this is sufficient.

I wish I had bought this sooner.

This hand gun safe is exactly what I was looking for, Slim, and compact. It fits my Glock 23 perfectly, no wasted space. I would give it a perfect 5 star rating if it had a thicker, stronger security cable. Larry B.

I use this gun vault in my car. This gun vault is a sufficient and inexpensive way to secure your handgun in a vehicle. It is easily secured to a car seat with the supplied cable. I like the sturdy key lock which will slow down a thief and the fact that no electronics are involved. The size of the NV 200 allows me to store a .380 handgun or smaller up to a 5" barrel handgun like a 1911 .45ACP. The NV 200 suits my needs perfectly.

Not only do I use it in my vehicle, I also use it at home to store my firearm for short periods
of time during the day. I use it going to the post office, school and other places where firearms are prohibited.

I like the NV 200 size, it fits any of my firearms.

As intended, and good product. Check prices, after ordering I saw a closeout for $15.99!! I ordered three for Christmas gifts. They meet airline restrictions and would keep prying eyes and hands off your gun or valuables. Good to keep kids safe or a gun for a quick trip into a store. A hammer and screwdriver will defeat it though. Would buy you time and prevent an opportunistic thief or valet attendant from a grab and go. Strong cable. For the price and intended use, perfect.

Nice piece of work and does what it was made for...holds revolver or pistol securely along with spare magazines or speedloaders...not big enough to leave in holster but still a good buy...now have two of them and they work fine for airline/TSA requirements...solidly built.
