Most Helpful Positive Review A significant Improvement
Far greater improvement from the Gen 1, and well worth the additional cost. I had to replace the scope I first received, as there was excess oil on the inside that got on the edges of the lenses. HI Lux makes some great niche products but I never truly trust their QC.

Gen II was worth waiting for...

by Flyover, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on March 19, 2024
This vintage replica second generation military scope has a very solid feel to it. The optics are very clear, and I prefer the simple crosshair reticle. It's a bonus the mounts are included. The perfect vintage replica scope for a Springfield 1903 or pre 64 Winchester model 70.

Perfect Scope for my 1903A1

by Jack, from CA, United States Written on November 8, 2023
Thank you Hi-Lux for making this masterpiece of a scope. It is a major improvement over Gen I. This scope proudly sits on top of my 03A1 which is used for vintage sniper.

Clicks are super crisp, and it is nice how the numbers are indexed counter-clockwise. When you dial up the numbers increase. Turret caps can also be reindexed.

Glass is outstanding and sharp.
Pros:
  • Best scope for 1903A1 Builds
  • Super Positive Clicks
Cons:
  • None

vintage scope 8x gen2

by xroads, from CT, United States Written on October 1, 2023
originally bought a similar scope thinking it was a gen2 at an incredible price. when shipped, found out it was a gen1 with the mushy adjustments. filled out the return form and shipped it back for a full refund. reordered the correct gen2 scope and it is light years ahead of the gen1. great glass and crisp and repeatable windage and elevation adjustments.
Pros:
  • great vintage 8x sniper scope
Cons:
  • cost is high
Best Used for:
  • vintage sniper competition

Great scope

by Jb, from OH, United States Written on June 28, 2023
Scope shoots great. Wonderful reproduction of the unertal. I have two with no issues. But you should locktite the Mount screws. Flip the scope over and there’s holes for the screws to come threw, put some locktite in them and tighten it down.
Best Used for:
  • Long range shooting
  • Lond distance shooting

All the kinks are ironed out!

by R3IV, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on October 19, 2021
The Gen II is what we've waited for for YEARS!!!

-The rings are head and shoulders above the the old ones. They are the 1st style unertl rings with the sliding key, not the later micrometer style. They can be re-indexed to zero! Comparable in quality to my DZ and Steve Earle Rigngs!

-The dovetail mounts are machined (old ones looked like they were cast in a rubber mold)

-The QC on all threads is Much tighter/better!

(read my GenI review for the general virtues of the glass&reticle)

The guys who seriously used the GenI scopes paid >$400 to buy all the things that now come included with the scope.
This is the way it should have been all along!

The only gripe: If you install the spring, the front brass spring retainer ring is .030" TOO Large in diameter and collides with the front scope ring. Nothing a little lathe work wont fix, but be aware.
Pros:
  • Rings
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Vintage chic Competition shooters
