Most Helpful Positive Review
Top Holosun Quality
Great RDS. Slightly larger objective makes a decent improvement in field of vision. SPR is nice but works best for my old eyes under magnification.
Most Helpful Negative Review
Great concept, awful implementation
I have become a fan of many of Holosun’s products and give the company credit for innovation that outpaces much of the market. I was excited to try this optic to gain BDC capability in a red dot with a larger than T1/H1 tube. Unfortunately, the BdC reticle, in reality, is incredibly busy (dots, hash...

Gold for Astigmatism
Gold is definitetlly the color for those of us with astigmatism. Still see two dots but none of the starburst in my red dot ARO. I just needed to identify which dot to use. The SPR was great. Put this on 300 BLK build with 16 inch barrel. Easy to zero using supersonic ammo, then used the SPR to adjust for subsonic. Only took three shots to identify the subsonic drop. Zeroed at 25 yards. Using SPR I could hit 24” gong at 200 with supersonic ammo.
Pros:
- Easy to zero, gold color for astigmatism
Cons:
- Higher mount, had to add spacer to my HM3 magnifier

Good optic at the right price
Shot this on a honey badger sd before acog arrived. Good reticle, fast on target. First try at a green reticle. I am impressed

Does what it says.
I like this. I bought it to utilize the ranging reticle ar 12 oclock and drop down into the scope. I dont know if it is well-suited for this. Ill report back.

Crazy glare
The top half of the glass has a crazy red glare or reflection and is the worst glare I’ve ever seen on an enclosed optic. I even exchanged it for a different one hoping it was a defect and no luck there all like that it’s super distracting

Holosun aro
The holosun aro is the best red dot application for any ar15 platform! Love the wide open window and quality glass!!!

Holosun did it right with this one!
So, to put this review in context I have owned several Holosun optics, namely the 510C and the AEMS for rifles and the 507C, EPS Carry and 507Comp pistol dots. All have been from good to great. This optic specifically has a number of upgrades that make it stand out.
First, this has been the first Holosun optic that has the self adjusting brightness feature that actually works, and works perfectly. The other versions seemed to either blow out the brightness in daylight and/or be too dim on lower light conditions. I can point this at things in the bright AZ sun and the level of brightness is spot on, then point towards shadows and it drops the brightness to the correct level. Even going from there to darkness it will further adjust down. Very well done Holosun.
My other Holosun rifle optics above have had the 2MOA center dot. My eyes are not the best anymore and I have noticed that the 1.5MOA center dot on this new optic is a noticeable reduction that reduces the dot to almost EoTech (1MOA) levels. When you are using the dot with a 3x magnifier it is easier to see more of the target when you are out at 300 yards and further and is VERY crisp. A great improvement.
The mount is solid, and locks up nice and tight. I later opted for a Reptilia mount to raise the height to 1.93 and was surprised how close the stock mount felt as far as tolerances and lock up to the top of the line Reptilia mount. Not at all the cheap mount like some Holosuns of the past.

Bigger Window
This has a much bigger window than my HC503. I got this in gold because I heard great things. They have all been confirmed. I much prefer green and gold over red. Red is OK if the clarity is good otherwise im going green! I will definitely go gold again tho.

Reticle is too small
I dont know if this is a defective unit, but it is one of the first round of gold dots in this line, and I got it for my daughter because like me she is colorblind and she can see gold dots where I can see the geeen dots. The reticle is so small on this that it makes it really hard to see the dot at all or the circle dot. Even under a Holosun 3x magnifier or an Eotech magnifier I cannot read what is supposed to be next to the hash marks with the 4th reticle setting. Comparing it to my AEMS green dot optic the reticle size is similar but the AEMS is much easier to see. My daughter has an AEMS gold dot and loves it but this model has been a disappointment.
Pros:
- Durability
- Gold Reticle
- Holosun glass
Cons:
- hard to see
- Even under magnification you cannot read what is next to the hashes on the 4th reticle setting.
Best Used for:
- Not sure

ARO-EVO-SPR' RD
This Holosun ARO-EVO-SPR' MRS RD comes with a lot of quality of life improvements over the 503: series. It has a bigger objective lens, larger battery tray, recessed windage and elevation turrets and a better mount. It still has the solar failsafe, shake awake and MRS. This model in particular has even more reticles that help with bullet drop. For the price you get a pretty good optic. I'm using this on one of my 300 blackout builds with the HM3X and I love it. Great for QCB and mid range shooting. Even just running it with just the optic and no magnifier it is a great option. I like the mount but I always throw on a 1.57": Scalarworks LEAP 01 mount which brings the height to almost 1.93". I believe it's a little over 1.8" and works great for fast target acquisition. The battery life alone is a major plus for me. I highly recommend it if you are in the market for a new optic and don't want to drop close to or over $650 on an EOTech.
