.308 stockpile
I am trying to build up a good supply of various grain weight and bullet types in .308.
There are 3-4 manufacturers that I like to buy because they are quality products. Hornady is one of them.
Optics Planet has a wide selection to choose from.
Price is super important when buying .308.
I watch for sale or Blazin deals. The other factor is the shipping cost and OP also helps with that sometimes.

Mr. Moose on Hornady 308 Win 168 grain HPBT
I have had a blast sighting my Springfield M1A Standard at 100yds using Fiocchi FMJHPBT 168g which resulted in multiple double hole shots in the black and the rest in and around the 1st and 2nd rings. I moved on to 300 yds using 168g NORMA and Nosler Match to improve my accuracy. I am very pleased that all shots were within the 2nd & 3rd rings. Not too bad for an old guy, obviously the rifle had a lot to do with that... Truthfully, I am a novice and still learning and after chatting with the range folks I tried Hornady's 168g, HPBT Match ammo. My shot groups at 300yds closed up and every shot was within the 2nd ring with multiple shots touching the 1st ring line and 2 in the Black. I recognize that the potential for this round is extensive and I am practicing my technique attempting to improve my shooting technique. Once I gain the muscle memory and technique, I will move out to 400yds and beyond?. Very confident with the Hornady ammo and hope to find the Black at 400yds and beyond?
Pros:
- Smooth chambering, manageable recoil accurate, limiting factor is my technique to find the Black
Cons:
- None, Zero, Nada
Best Used for:
- Target and hunting game. Deer, elk, bear etc...

Good match grade 308
It’s Hornady. It’s as good of a bullet as can be expected. Shoots sub moa with a sub moa gun. I’d have to run through a whole lot more to review batches and lots for repeatability
