The oal gauge, another great Hornady product
It works perfectly on bolt/auto guns. I like that when set, it doesn't slip setting. Threads into the modified cartridges perfectly. A must have to figure seating depth on finicky rifles Seriously considering the angle unit for lever guns. I bet they will work just as well.

Looks great so far but can’t use it yet because you need the modified casing to use which is sold separately. Just know that when ordering. Im sure it will work fine once the next part comes in.

Great Product to help with accurate reloading.
I got this to help with working up loads for my 300WM and im glad I did. Much better than just running a piece of brass with a bullet into my lands and pulling that out to measure my COL. This product is a must have for anyone trying to load for precision shooting.

Bought this as a replacement to a lock-n-load OAL gauge that had broken. Not that they are super fragile, but be more careful then I was (especially with the plastic rod)! It works well enough that I decided to buy a second one.

Works as described
I use the Hornady Straight Length Gage to check all of my bolt guns in order to develop the most accurate handloads I can. I shoot 223 Rem, 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 Winchester and 338 Lapua Mag in long range matches and by using this gage I have cut my groups significantly.

Best Tool I've found for Ogive to Base measuring
This is a super easy way to measure ogive to base for any given cartridge/bullet combination in your rifle. Give you a precise starting place to work up "distance off the lands" loads in your rifle. I tried the Sinclair tool first, but found it compounds error because you involve the overall length in your calculation. Bullets are not precisely the same in respect to both ogive and bullet overall length. It's best just to deal with one factor and this Hornady tool does just that. Ogive to base. The best measurement to work with. You will also need the bullet comparator tool to work with this Total Length Gauge.
