Most Helpful Positive Review works fantastically well
Don’t listen to the other reviewers I’m really not sure what they’re talking about. I’ve had several Hyve branded recoil guide rods and they’ve all performed flawlessly. The button style end provides a nice clean look, and the spring is just as every bit reliable as stock. I feel like none of these ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Terrible !
Doesn’t work. Slide locks up & doesn’t move all the way forward. It’s also hard to get in and out.... too tight. I’ve put guide rods in all my Glocks and this is the first time I’ve had a problem with one. I’m sending this back! I’m very disappointed...

break-in period?

by MSG RET, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on August 29, 2025
Great company doing great things for the firearm industry, but the tolerances on this guide rod are less than ideal. The end of the rod protrudes from the front of the slide. It also restricts the slide from full recoil and doesn't allow the slide release to engage. This happened with my G43, 48, PSA Micro, and LFA 43 with SCT lower. After a literal hour of manual slide manipulation with my LFA, the guide rod finally wore-in, or broke-in. The rod still protrudes from the front of the side, but now allows for full recoil of the slide and use of the slide release. Manual manipulation of the slide seems to have remedied itself on all my 43/43x/48 models. I never experienced this issue with any other competitor's guide rods.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • tight fit
  • Not plug-and-play.

Better than Stock, Worth the $$

by Scooby-Doo, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on July 10, 2021
Stock Glock Guide-Rod weighs 12.21gms, Tungsten Glock 28.64, Rival Arms 35.48 and the HYVE is 24.65.
Returned the Tungsten Glock (doesn't weigh the 3-4 times more they claim) Rival Arms helped the muzzle flip but it protruded from the front of the firearm and just looked like it didn't belong on this model. The HYVE Guide-Rod has worked flawlessly for me (over 200-rds)and doubles the weight of the stock Glock.
The only reason I gave it 4-Stars is that it fits very snuggly into the slide end, and it isn't as easily removed as the stock Glock items.
Pros:
  • Functions flawlessly
  • Decent Value
  • Doubles Weight
Cons:
  • Fits really tight
  • Fits a bit tight
Best Used for:
  • Guide-Rod Upgrade

NOT suppressor friendly and not a good fit

by Silencers does Everything, from TX, United States Written on July 17, 2020
This sticks too far and makes suppressor use impossible. It should be engineered to mimic the same amount of protrusion out the front as the factory part. When I put it in my slide wouldn’t cycle with a suppressor. I called the company, who told me they never tested it with a suppressor because they live in Commiefornia. Well there’s another reason I’ll add to the list to not support that failed state.
Pros:
  • None.
Cons:
  • Wasted time. Bad engineering and pathetic excuse for said poor engineering.
Best Used for:
  • Throwing at people.
