Works as advertised!
If you have a JP SCS buffer I can highly recommend you pick up one of these. For years now I've been running my guns without any retainer pin and while it made it easy to get the buffer out, it was also a pain when the buffer would just fall out if I wasn't careful when I opened up the gun.

Spring was all sorts of messed up
The spring was all bent and disproportioned. It seems like the components are good quality but they aren’t up to par with manufacturing I guess. Seems like a pretty obvious quality control issue. If something like this got through I do not recommend.
JP Buffer Retainer
This buffer retainer sports a straight shaped edge to perfectly support the flat edge of the weighted buffer better than a rounded pin. Increased surface area is definitely a plus.

So much easier
The small things matter and this little buddy certainly counts. Turns a frustrating experience removing the SCS into the simple operation it should be.

Great for JP Enterprise SCS System
Purchased this for my Radian M1 build. Didn't need the shim, but after installing it, the SCS system had las play (before it would kind of slide back and forth and make a sound if you flipped the rifle upside down). It seems well made and I'm very happy with my purchase. Definitely would purchase again if I purchase another SCS

Great solution
I have been using the JP Silent Captured Spring, SCS, buffer assembly in my competition AR and 2 other ARs with Maxim CQB stocks. I never installed a buffer retainer as it is not required like a traditional buffer and spring.
All that said, I have started changing the springs and weights on my competition AR to better tune the firearm. I have also been using different Maxim CQB buffers and springs with different upper configurations and by adding these buffer retainers I do not have to fight getting the upper open or back on with the SCS or traditional buffer/springs, and the SCS does not just fall out.
Sometimes the small things make a bigger difference than ever thought possible.

Pros:
- Smooth operation with SCS
- Not overly costly for a specialty item
- Easy removal and install of SCS and traditional buffers
Cons:
- Does not come with Maxim CQB brace or stock kit
Best Used for:
- All JP Silent Capitured Spring buffers and Maxim CQB buffers

Right part for the job
Does exactly as it says. Keeps the jp buffer spring set up in the buffer tube.

makes it easy
The JP buffer spring can be monotonous with a regular retainer spring to install and remove but, using the JP retainer spring it has become a much simpler process.

works well
Got this because I swapped out the budget and spring for a JP SCS set up. It fits. It works.
JP says you really don't need this. Just remove the catch all together. But having this makes me feel better.

Great availability.
I won't have a chance to test this out until my build is complete but I'm certain of the quality. What I appreciated the most was availability on OpticsPlanet where other websites didn't have them all in one place at a decent price.
Pros:
- reasonable price
Cons:
- None
