Most Helpful Positive Review Smaller than 1.0, but with +/-
I have used both first and second gen of the Shockwave Blade. While the advent of the adjustability is nice, you give up some of the lockup of the 1.0. When set in position it is a bit wobbly, but nothing horrible. Given such a small footprint for either shouldering or 'finning' on your forearm you ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Don't waste your money.
I should've just saved a little more to buy the new sba4 adjustable brace. This is a cheap piece of plastic that becomes an eye sore on your pistol build. It wobbles horribly and the lever to extend gets stuck most of the time. Don't buy it.

Sb is way better!

by Ar Builder, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on April 5, 2021
I liked the brace other than lever to adjust the length of the brace being impossible to grab and adjust I had no complaints once I finally got it in my most comfortable position and then I felt the Sb Tactical SBA3 brace! The sba3 feels better and by far easier to adjust for about $50-100 more. If you have the extra money for a brace go ahead and move up but if not the Kak 2.o will serve its purpose.
Pros:
  • Better than not having a brace.
  • Cheap price.
Cons:
  • Lever to adjust length impossible to grasp
Best Used for:
  • Replacing buffer tube on at pistols but not better than Sb tactical products: sba3/sba4

Want a gift for your nemesis? This is it!

by TT, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on January 27, 2021
This thing is a royal pain, quite literally. Installation is easy, but that's the extent of good news.

1. It rattles like crazy
2. Adjustment lever is impossible to operate on the fly
3. The shape and size somehow hits the major ouch spot, no matter how you shoulder it.

Latter is a bit odd, as the first version of Shockwave Blade was quite comfortable, as far as braces go. But this one feels like having an ATF agent mounted on your buffer tube: "SIR, IF YOU TRY TO SHOULDER IT AGAIN I'D HAVE TO TASE YOU!"

Perfect for AR Pistol

by J, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 12, 2021
Brace fit superb on my new build. Aside from the release button being a bit trouble some to make it slide the brace is great. Will get this for another build later on before the atf tries to change their minds lol

Square peg in a round hole

by Scott, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on December 7, 2020
The stabilizer does not work with the included buffer tube! The locking peg on the blade is a rectangular shape that is too long for the female holes in the buffer tube. It slides forward like a ratchet but you can't lock it in any of the adjustment indentations. In the 5 minutes I've been messing with it, I can see the wear on the buffer tube indents where the locking peg is slightly too big to fit in the hole. If Opticsplanet doesn't play ball, I'll have to file down the locking peg. I'm not eager to do that because I don't want the crooks at the ATF to be able to say I "modified" the brace. Not what I signed up for. I'm guessing they made it tighter to try to address the complaints about it being wobbly, but apparently now the tolerance is tighter than they can manufacture consistently. I don't expect something rock-solid at this price point, but I do expect it to work. I also tried it on a well worn-in buffer tube I have around and it doesn't fit that either.

Nice Brace

by BikerDick, from MI, United States Written on December 5, 2020
Light, cheap, easy to use, and ATF approved. Legal is good. They have the letter. Some of the other braces are much nicer, but they aren't approved designs. This is a lot better than a 10 year felony and the loss of your 2nd amendment rights. Bottom line? It works & looks decent. The only thing that they coulda done better would be to extend the adjusting lever out a bit to make it easier to pull. Maybe a little bend with some serrations to make it easier on your fingers. Now pull up your panties Nancy, & buy it, cheapskate.
Pros:
  • works
  • Approved
  • Won't land you in club fed.
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Looking cool
  • Staying out of jail
  • shooting with one hand!

not a good one

by bisrael, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on May 23, 2020
I don't like having to submit a negative review and I am normally the kind of person to try and offer constructive feedback....but this brace was horrible, the color was "off", the fit was horrible and the latch mechanism is iffy at best..lots of of other choices..I'd go with one of them. Imho

The 2.0 is Sleek & Stylish

by JZ, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on January 3, 2020
Really like what KAK did with the lighter and smaller 2.0 version of the brace! They look particularly nice folded, and the FDE color is a pretty good match with my Aero receiver. Installs easily too... just like a regular buffer tube assembly, then the brace slides over and secures via the multi-position latch. I looked at a lot of braces, and I ultimately decided to go with the one from the folks with not one, but TWO ATF letters of approval on the device and its use. NOTE: The carbine-esque tube that comes with the 2.0 is a proprietary tube with slots (not holes), and the blade will NOT clip onto your regular carbine tube. The little metal bar that acts as the latch is also a little hard to operate and will hurt a non-gloved finger with continual adjustments. Some oil on the tube and a little use should continue making that better over time.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • easy to use
  • Adjustable
  • easy installation
  • Looks nice
  • Costs less than manufacturers site
  • ATF Approved
Cons:
  • hard to adjust
  • Proprietary Tube
Best Used for:
  • AR Pistols
  • Firearms that accept AR Pistol braces
  • Folding Buffer Assembly

Very well built brace

by AZglenh, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on April 2, 2019
I put this brace on an AR-9mm pistol I just finished up. It adjusts into 5 different positions, It takes a little effort to move. It is super light compared to my SB15 I had originally. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a QD sling port. Instead, I added one at the back of the receiver. Being that it is still a polymer blade, I would stay away from calibers with heavy recoil.
Pros:
  • light weight
  • Adjustable
  • Minimalistic
Cons:
  • No QD mount
Best Used for:
  • Guns with lower recoil
