This is a very well made (USA!), solid, tool for regular work use or EDC  (every-day-carry). I originally bought a Wave +, which is a great tool, but not quite heavy enough for the type of work I do.  So I returned it for this Surge, which is bigger/thicker overall and has heavier scissors and pliers.
The surge has a replaceable blade holder that comes with a saw installed, but this can be easily replaced with a file included in the box. The wire cutter blades can also be replaced.It's great how Leatherman is making the main wearable tools replaceable to extent the life of the tool by many years.

The included premium nylon sheath has a belt loop and two accessory holders. I use one for the optional screw bit extender that snaps into the knife and holds regular size driver bits.
Note: The pliers shown in OP's photo are outdated - the #830158 now has the larger reinforced pliers. This can be seen on Leatherman's web page under Surge or by searching 830158.

Its a Leatherman, the standard high quality multitool that others try to copy but continually fall short. If your on the market for a multitool get a leatherman or victorinox you wont regret it. I use the surge as my edc as it has a swappable saw blade that fits standard t-shank jigsaw blades, very handy.

I'm a big fan of my Leatherman Surge. I have multiple Leatherman products and not not has had any issues. Lots of useful tools, but a couple I don't really need. It would be nice if Leatherman offered a customizable version.

Strong tool use it everyday at work or at home. Works well, the bigger scissor is easy to use. The change of bits driver is pretty handy. But the wire cutter part is what I would always destroy on my other leathermans. So the replaceable cutter is what I like the most.

I was pleasantly surprised and very appreciative of how Optics Planet kept me in the loop as my package made it's journey to my granddaughter. The gentleman who took my order was courteous and on point. My granddaughter loves her Leatherman Surge Black Oxide Multi Tool. I know she'll use it often as she loves an active outdoor life.

Very pleased with the Surge thus far. It is well built and has a majority of the tools I need. I like the ability to access the knife, saw, scissors, serrated blade without opening the tool. It does, however, ship with some sort or oil or grease on the Black Oxide version that gets your hands pretty dirty. I assume this is from the manufacturing process and needs to be cleaned before you use this tool.

Leatherman surge is a keeper. It is a large multitool and well designed as you may expect. Arrived covered in a protective oil that will stain if in your pocket and not in sheath. Knives lock well and useful for a wide variety of situations. Buy one and place in glovebox in your car, desk at work or simply keep it handy. Pros are its full size, sturdiness and quality of manufacture. Cones with file as well to keep blades sharp. Cons are also weight and size (not comfy in pocket and sheath feels a little dorky for edc). Expensive too, though one should pay extra for quality tools. Would recommend this product.

I've carried a leatherman on my belt for over twenty years and use it every day. I wanted beefier pliers so i upgraded to Surge. Love the exchangeable file and saw fitting, love the bigger stronger scissors located on the outside. But i preferred the inside tool set on the Charge ALX which has another bit driver and a mini jewellers screwdriver instead of the awl and two flat drivers. A much, much better tool selection for my needs. I bought a used Wave for parts and swapped them out, now I have the perfect LM. If LM offered a Surge ALX model it would be the best Leatherman ever.

I haven't had a chance to use it much but my first impressions are very positive. This is one beast of a multi-tool! It has that cool factor with the black oxide finish. Most of the tools are the standard Leatherman variety. The most compelling feature to me are the pliers and wire cutters. I believe this is the largest pliers that Leatherman offers, and it's nice having a choice of wire cutters. Would definitely purchase again!

Great to have in the SUV, ATV, or just around the house. I have used it for all types of repairs at home and on the shooting range. Heavy for belt carry. Some of the best features are the interchangeable saw blade and the large scissors.
