Most Helpful Positive Review Great setup
Works perfectly with my primary arms red dot.. Mounted it on a century arms c39v2, the mount has zero play onces you adjust the tension screw correctly..I don't consider it to be bulky and it's pretty light weight.. I would Definitely recommend.
Most Helpful Negative Review Worst mount so far... from a real customer.
Video says do NOT use a flat head on the tension screw. Was messing with it for ever to get the tension screw to even come up....nothing was happening. Pushing up on the lever so hard that it made the locking spring come out lol. Put the locking spring back in. And decided to put a little break free...

top quality optic mount for you AK

by Stazi, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on January 20, 2025
This is my second of these mounts. Fantastic for mounting a T1 footprint optic low on your AK. The lockup adjustment is easy to do and the centering allowance is a must for AK’s and their loose manufacturing tolerances.
Pros:
  • Quality
  • solid
  • Adjustability
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Any AK with a side rail

Best AK red dot mount I’ve tried to date

by Wisco Guy, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on April 10, 2023
I purchased this Midwest Industries AK mount after trying other mounts from AK Master and RS Regulate and I have to say this one is my favorite. Fit and finish is perfect. More importantly, the mount slides on and off the rifle easily and stays tight when secured. I also like the fact when using the red dot the iron sights are low enough to not be in way to clutter your sight picture. Highly recommend!
Pros:
  • Fit and finish
  • Stays tight
Cons:
  • None
Would recommend: Yes

Solid Mount

by Kyle, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on February 24, 2022
I've been very happy with this mount. The locking QD lever is solid and cannot be unintentionally released. The T1/T2 footprint was machined to spec and worked with multiple optics. MI even includes screws to mount the Primary Arms microdots. I've found that the screws included with my other optics, which included a Sig Romeo 4T and Holosun 515CM, worked with the mount. The MI mount seems more solid than the RS mounts but I believe it also weighs a little more. The Gen 2 mounts can also be centered over the bore by sliding the upper and lower portions relative to one another. Once I got the upper aligned, I used blue loctite to secure the screws that hold the upper and lower together. I have had no issues with the mount holding zero, though I have no subjected it to drops, etc. I have used this mount on a PSA GFE and a PSA AK104. If you plan to use the MI mounts on a PSA AK you will need to file some material from the lower mount to accommodate the rear rivet that holds the side optics mount on PSA AK's. It seems PSA's rivet sticks out higher than others. I did this with some simple hand files and then re-anodized it with Birchwood-Casey Aluminum Black.
Pros:
  • solid
Cons:
  • Slightly heavier than RS mounts

Works well on a WASR V2

by Mark, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on February 7, 2022
I wanted an RS Regulate, but everytime I check they are out of stock so I got tired of waiting and took a chance on this one. After around 1000 rounds I have had zero issues with it. This includes bump firing and fun mag dumping because it's a WASR. The only downside is that it is quite heavy and I wish they made some cut-outs on the lower portion of the mount like my SM-13 rail or the RS regulate. It does make it feel more bombproof though so maybe it's better being all solid.
Pros:
  • durable
Cons:
  • Heavy

Very Nice AK Side Mount

by Kyle, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on December 19, 2021
I have been very pleased with the Mount. The QD system work great and it is easy to get mounted.I also have the one with the full picatinny rail and this one is a little lighter and allows you to Mount your dot lower. Depending on your optic, you may or may not be able to see your irons through the tube. I have it mounted on a PSA GF3.
Pros:
  • light
  • Quality build and finish
Cons:
  • None

Fits on centerline, tight and straight.

by Patriotic Realist, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on August 13, 2020
This model works well with my Holosun optic (HE403C) on my Palmetto State Armory GF3 Moekhov. It did require a slight amount of relieving (with a 1/4" diameter round file) at the rear of the base where it sits over the rail due to the rear rail rivet interfering slightly. The optic mount places the red dot perfectly centerline with the gun and just barely above the ribbed dust cover but you are still able to remove it. The tension adjustment for the clamp has a MILE of adjustment; no problems there. Notice that some have observed the screws between upper and lower coming loose over time. Please use a bit of green loctite (retention grade) or similar on those two screws.

A great budget optic mount

by Dec, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on April 26, 2020
While not quite as low profile or light as a RS Regulate offering, this Midwest Industries mount is still an excellent buy, especially when considering cost savings. The underside lever lock system is easy to tension and had a super tight lockup.
This mount mated perfectly with my Primary Arms Cyclops optic. There is zero wobble from recoil and no shift of impact after repeated removals. Overall, I would certainly recommend anyone looking for an AKM red dot mount to give this some consideration, especially if they are on a budget
Pros:
  • Affordable but sturdy
Cons:
  • Bulkier than pricier alternatives
