This thing is hard to hold and press the ring back. Very hard. It slips, spreads, and generally is fussy. Also it does not grip the mag well well due to its glossy rubber coating. The right tool for the right job.
Once I finally got the tool after a 30 day wait for it to arrive, I got the stock handguard off my AR-15/M-4 clone in about 30 seconds, The plastic coating on the tool looks well done and prevents marring the weapon. If you have an AR platform with a Delta style slipring you need this tool or a friend that has one.
Pros:
- easy to use
- well made
- Coated to prevent marring of weapon
Cons:
- took a month to arrive but I don't hold it against the tool
Best Used for:
- AR platforms with Delta style slipring

NcSTAR AR Handguard Removal Tool
This tool is worth every cent. The rings on these rifles are very hard to work with. This tool makes it an easy one hand operation. No need for another person to help with it.

Is Slipping For Me
I have this four stars since it after 15 to 20 uses (including quite a few "slips"), the rubber coating is still intact. The coating appears to be applied properly. I took away a star since i'm unable to get this tool to stay in place when it is hooked around the front edge of the lower receiver (LR) magazine slot. When i apply a clamping force to the ends of the tool and push down, the hook comes off the LR. Anyway, maybe i'm doing something wrong, but i am a trained armourer. I'll keep practicing.

Nice and easy to use!
A must have to change out handguards!!! Makes the job easier through and through…..easy on the hands for sure,,,,,, would buy again!!!!!!……….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slips out mag well
Sadly this tool didn't work well. The Plastic cover is slippery and to thick. The hook doesn't catch the mag well enough. The piece also is to thick where it makes it very hard to put bottom rail/receiver on.

Handguard removal tool
This tool is great. It made the job of pulling the delta ring back far enough to get my new Strike Industries handguard in place possible. This would have been next to impossible without it because the spring is so strong. Without it you would need three hands to do this job. Great tool.

- The hook portion could have been longer to grab the mag well better

What did I expect from NCStar?
How hard is it to make a tool that works for delta rings? Apparently it’s really difficult, because NCStar can’t help but make this tool juuuust bad enough that it almost works, but it simply doesn’t fit into the magwell deep enough to retain itself while you try to hold it with one hand. This only adds to the frustration of removing a handguard, because I spent money on a very simple product that simply doesn’t work.

Does the job
It gets the job done. Kinda tough to use since it starts to slip out of the magwell when you push hard enough, so definitely doesn’t make changing the rail easy, but still much easier than trying to do it by hand

Made removal of the factory hand guard on my AR-15 and install of an after-market hand guard a snap
This tool was recommended by Optics Planet tech support for removal of the factory hand guard from my AR-15 and reinstall of an after market hand guard.

Hand guard removal tool
This tool took me almost 45 minutes to use. It kept slipping out of magazine placement.
The tool needs to be lengthened,and re-.bent.At least to fit an MP-15
