Most Helpful Positive Review 1000 yd scope
This is my first but certainly not last Nightforce scope. I bought the scope for mounting on my 6.5 creedmoor rifle with the intention of shooting it at 500-700 yds hunting whitetail deer and groundhogs. It has what i consider the ideal magnification range for hunting at med to long range. Can be t...

Most Helpful Negative Review Reasonably happy with this purchase
I like the capped turrets and the overall quality seems good. The illumination is spotty, and while the center and tic marks on the reticle are lit fairly well, the numbers indicating mils are only partially illuminated, making them unreadable.

NIGHT FORCE SHV F1 my second one

by Vahawgdaddy, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on December 20, 2025
My second ahv f1 ! These scopes are affordable and built like a tank. On a recent back country elk hunt I had a couple of bad falls where the scope took a lot of abuse on rock. Held zero no issues other than cosmetic. Excellent optical clarity firm click adjustments and easy to read numbers for us old guys. A no regret purchase
Pros:
  • Optical clarity
  • price and quality
Cons:
  • weight
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • long range applications

Night Force SHV 4-14 F1 Rifle Scope

by Randy, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on June 25, 2024
First of all, on time delivery, packaged well and no shipping issues whatsoever. Longtime Optics Planet customer. Highly recommended.
Scope was easy to set up, boresight and zero at the range. Crystal clear optics and excellent dawn and dusk light reception. I am able to hunt much longer than most simply due to the low light abilities of this scope. Night Force has higher end scopes (i.e.ATACR) but if you are looking for a high quality range capable hunting scope with an illuminated red dot that doesn’t break the bank? Well, here it is!
Best, Randy.

Will not track

by Disappointed, from WA, United States Written on August 3, 2022
The glass in this scope is very good and excels during low light. However it is not a tactical scope. One click at 100yds moved point of impact not 1/4" but 2". And it is not a consistent 2", it is all over whenever adjusting windage or elevation. I have 5 shot 1/2" group @100yds and when adjusting windage one click it moves 2" where I shot another 5 shot 1/2" group. Sent it back but was told there was nothing wrong with it. So I replaced the no lap NF rings and still had the same problem. I can get good groups out of it but cannot adjust for distance. Try another brand.
Pros:
  • very good glass
Cons:
  • Does not track
Best Used for:
  • Hammer

Flawless precision.

by Oxnard Montalvo, from CO, United States Written on September 21, 2020
I placed this scope on my .338 wm. Rem 700, accurized, bedded, barreled, yadda yadda. Zeroed at 200 yds. I had a custom turret done for my loads. This thing shoots 1/2 moa out to 700 yds. Never tried further, I’m too lazy to walk further than that. I can hunt three states now, from one tree stand. I love it when stuff just works.

Nightforce SHV, outstanding optic

by gunsmith, from KY, United States Written on February 6, 2020
There is not much I need to say about Nightforce products. I've had several over they years and all have performed above my most demanding expectations. The SHV is no exception. The size is not overly large for the clarity and precision it affords. This scope will be used on a new Defiance action M700 in 6.5 x 300 Weatherby for medium and large game at distance. You only pay for quality once! I will procure another Nightforce for a similar .257 Weatherby custom for my Wife in the upcoming months. Optics Palnet had them in stock and delivered in well packaged container in just days with free shipping and no State sales tax collected. Gotta love that!

Super Scope!

by eagleeye, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on July 16, 2019
I have use other brands of scopes but they didn't compare to this brand of scope. The extra cost is definitely worth it. The clarity is really good and windage and elevation adjustments are stop on an repeatable. The illuminating reticle is great in low light shooting.

Nightforce SHV 4-14x50mm F1Scope

by browntex, from TX, United States Written on November 23, 2018
This is my first Nightforce scope and I am very pleased. The scope mounted easily on a Ruger RPR using the Nightforce 1.5” 20 moa Unimount. While using the scope on targets out to 800 yards, clarity at both ends of magnification was excellent. I could easily make out a 4” triangle at 800 yds. Windage and elevation adjustments were true and repeatable. Returning to zero using the ZeroSet function was quick, accurate, and repeatable. My friend also bought the same scope at the same time had the same experience. Use of gradations on reticle was easy and accurate. I would recommend this scope to anyone interested in either long range shooting or on a hunting rifle. Expensive and worth it!
Pros:
  • Positive adjustments, excellent glass quality
Cons:
  • Expensive - buy once, cry once.
Best Used for:
  • Hunting and long range shooting.

Clear birds eve view

by Brandon, from TX, United States Written on January 24, 2018
I purchased the Nightforce SHV Reticle: Illuminated MIL-R. It is a sweet reticle. The Nightforce SHV was my second ever purchased scope. My first scope was a Nicon that I partnered with a new Savage Hog Hunter 308.

I placed Mr. Nightforce on a brand new Bagara B14 HMR 6.5. OOH BOOOYY!!! What a perfect combo. I do have a slight astigmatism, but with the Nighforce SHV, I don't need to use my glasses. The illuminating reticle gave me an added advantage for shot placement in low light ,with background coverage, over 155 yds.

This purchase was made because my buddy had the Nightforce SHV Iluminating Reticle on his "wish list". I bought it and it is an excellent purchase.

Nightforce

by John, from TX, United States Written on September 28, 2017
Great scope. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a hunting scope with elevation knob. Night force scopes are all I use on my precision rifle. You can not be the price for this scope. Optic planet is always willing to make a deal on the majority of their products.
