Its pretty bad.
i would definitely save your money !!! as soon as i received and tried it it was just so bad. this gen 1 is horrible and should stay away .would not use this for close quarters or even for just for looking around. super cheaply made
Fast shipping and very very nice return with optic planet.
There is affordable Night vision
These are awesome! Way better then I thought. I'm doing this to help because I couldn't find any information or pics that showed the quality. I had to gamble, and well I'm glad I did. Everything is digital in the $500 range. No options for tubular without spending $1500 at least. Except this Gen 1 plus, 44 degrees of view, and 1 x 20 night vision right here. They are good. I've been walking all around my house and outside. lol. ONLY complaint and your toughest challenge will be, mounting this to your helmet. I had to customize a bracket as best as I could. Its still worth the price. Just get creative and save money. So affordable and Thank you NightStar!!!! Wish I could post pics Trust me for the price you cant go wrong

These should be OPMOD!
I've used night vision from 1985 in the Marines and my own sets working government contract to working a heavily wooded and animal-laden acres of security area for a hippy computer company who worried more about the animals...on night shift. I've faced off with poachers and dodged momma black bear with the best night vision I could afford and often a model 629 .44 magnum hidden under my black ECWS parka. I've driven UTVs in the dark with headsets on passive, and have modified flashlights to try and get more reach in active for years. Well, I guess you could say since 1985 to present, even walked security at night around my house and neighborhood with post-hurricane power outage with a folding AKM and a shoulder rig with a custom knife and sheath and the holstered Colt Detective I'd rigged for my military injuries, wearing a soft harness NV gogglde head set. The headset with this Nightstar seems to work well-I have a head/neck/leg injury and haven't tried rigging to a ''Soft Air '' helmet set yet, just an old boonie. The optics are mighty fine and clear and will flip up and out of the way if I should grab my RPK-47 or my ten shot 870 pump out at my wooded 20 acres. I don't think I'd have a better head set of NVGs without breaking a grand. Buy them, they are great. Optics Planet-how about some OPMOD action with these and some magnification hand held/tripod scope with some magnification like 8 or so?
Pros:
- clarity, lightness
Cons:
- like all, should come with real padded cases
Best Used for:
- patrolling a fenceline or hunting poachers at night

Very well thought out NVG's
I thought I would give these a try as a back up for my wife's single monocular. When we tried them on she noticed they were not adjustable for eye width distance and she could only see through one eye. Kind of defeats the advantages of using bio's.But the picture image was excellent for gen 1+, very clear and sharp outline. She was really wanting to keep these because in that price range there is nothing else out there that can even come close. Pros: Excellent quality picture at distances out to 100 yds with axillary IR lighting. Controls easy to use and simple. Cons: Eye distance cannot be adjusted. Head mount is not very comfortable any long time but does work well in holding the NVG's. And they are a little heavy compared to lighter plastic units. Overall I wish we could have kept these but had to move on to another solution. As always OP's returns are customer friendly and easy! Excellent service.

Good product
This is a great product! Inexpensive and comes with an okay mount. Could improve in points (to be mentioned later) but for the price you can’t beat it. The infrared beam is a round circle that is not large enough for small rooms but good in open. Head mount is not very comfortable or quick to put on. Other than that amazing and overall great low budget alternative.
Pros:
- Great price, good quality, reliable
Cons:
- Limited IR width
Best Used for:
- Large area

Better to have than have not
I gave these four stars because for the price they work and are durable enough to use in the field. They are pretty easy to use and adjust with little practice. It claims it use. CR123A which you will find is false unless you hammer the battery in. It uses a CR2 which is half the size. Not sure how long they will operate on a small camera battery, but I’d be expecting 2 hrs possibly, I’ll have to test and update review. The head gear is poorly made but does work. The battery might outlast the head gear. The model I currently have is a new replacement for the original purchased due to being shipped a unit that looked like it was worn in combat and didn’t survive. That was not optics planets fault Rather the manufacturer. I would say for the cost these are serviceable and have there place. I feel any working night vision is better than nothing and would recommend these to anyone on a budget that’s not doing night raids.
Pros:
- Affordable, functional, Binoculars are strong
Cons:
- Head gear is poorly constructed
Best Used for:
- Seeing at night, recreational, hunting
