Most Helpful Positive Review Great Scope, Great Price
I have used a few Nikko Stirling scopes over the years on a variety rifles of different calibers. The scope purchased this time is now mounted on a .224 Valkyrie. The Valkyrie round is touted as a 1,000 yard-plus round; however, I am under no illusions that I will be shooting at that distance but 600 yard shots are a distinct possibility for the varmint hunting for which I intend to use the current configuration. Only time will tell if this scope is well suited for the varmint hunting and target shooting I intend to do with the rifle - but I am very confident it will as Nikko Stirling has yet...

good product for the price

by Booth78sar, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on March 10, 2024
Scope was easy to mount and has good clarity. Parallax adjustment is about 10% off, but comes through clear up to 16x. Easy to reset 0 for both axis, but limited a little by adjustments if your initial zero is off by one rotation. Definitely worth the money.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Clarity
  • Quality
Cons:
  • adjustment
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Target shooting

The Best Scope for the Money that I Have Ever Owned.....or Seen

by Uncle Doug, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on December 25, 2023
The N.S. Targetmaster scope arrived promptly and was easily installed on a Ruger Precision .22 Target Rifle using Sig Sauer rings (also from Optics Planet). I have fired several hundred rounds using a bipod stabilizer at 50yd to 100yd range with exceptional results, achieving sub-1" groupings. Besides the easy adjustability of reticle focus, windage, and elevation....I really like the saddle-knob adjustment for distance focus, which is so much easier and effective than rotation of the objective ring. Overall, this is a beautifully designed and constructed scope that functions as good as it looks. I highly recommended it to all who are seeking a high-quality, precision scope at a very reasonable price.
Pros:
  • Quality
  • Quality, Price, Adjustability

Nikko stirling targetmaster

by MR 308, from NY, United States Written on September 20, 2020
Very good scope. Nice crisp clicks, easy to adjust turrets, just needs a small Allen wrench to get the cap off to reset to zero when sighted in. Also has a twist down lock to keep the turrets from moving. Really good clear glass. I have two other Nikko Stirling scopes. The diamond long range is my favorite, with this coming in second. Have on a .308 and it works great. Would recommend. Was on clearance and was a great price.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Price and warranty
Cons:
  • None for me
Best Used for:
  • Hunting and target long range
Would recommend: Yes

Maybe 4.5 stars

by Dancing Bear, from IL, United States Written on March 15, 2020
I got the scope as a gift and installed it on Savage FCP 10 .308. It zeroed easily for 200 yards and was easy to reset the turrets to zero them out also. The clicks are distinctive and I could shoot minute or less groups with good ammo. The quarter minute adjustment seemed to track accurate at 200 yards but do not know beyond that distance, I won't know until I can make it to my 500 yard range this summer. I do like the fine cross hairs for target shooting and I can see my bullet holes at 200 yards. I would have given the scope 5 stars but at 16x, full power, the edges of the scope got cloudy and the eye relief had to be precise. I have used other scopes in the similar price range and power and they didn't seem to be quite as finicky concerning eye relief. But if I turn the scope down to 15X or less then things get better.
Pros:
  • Price, clarity at 15x or less, cross hairs
Cons:
  • At 16X edges got cloudy and eye relief was tight.
Best Used for:
  • Mid range shooting for varmints and target

Nikko Stirling Scope

by OldGuy, from MI, United States Written on September 26, 2019
Optics Planet's service and shipping were great. So far the scope is is holding zero well on a bull-barreled Weatherby .223. The glass is extremely clear and the adjustments are precise. If this continues to perform this well, I will be buying another one for a long range rifle.
Best Used for:
  • Target/Varmint

Great purchase

by Pararie dog hunter, from AL, United States Written on April 2, 2019
I bought this to put on a Savage 12fv in 223. I mounted it with a one piece DNZ mount. So far we have been able to shoot a 4 inch steel plate out to 500 yards without any trouble. The glass is clear. The adjustments/clicks are distinct clicks and easy to dial. So far I love this scope. I am using this for prairie dog hunting so not sure how it performs at dusk/dawn. Overall I am very pleased with this scope. I actually ordered a few other scopes in this price range to try them out and sent them all back except this one.
