Most Helpful Positive Review Great handguard

The quality is excellent and seems rugged and durable plus teamed with the Phase 5 Fatman Hex brake i picked up as well it gives my AR the aggressive look i was looking for. Overall i am very happy with this product and would gladly...

Most Helpful Negative Review No way would I order this Odin Ragna handguard again. Disappointed is the word.
So I purchased this Odin Works 15 inch Ragna because it was on sale and it looked pretty cool. First the supplied barrel nut is secured with Vibra-Tite, no mechanical anti rotation device or mechanism. Second, I assembled it as per Odin's instructions to the letter and the handguard was tilted down ...

Good Lightweight Handguard

by Cody, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on January 14, 2025
This is my second Ragna as I also have a 17.5" handguard that I've used for the last couple years. The handguard is super light weight, pretty rigid for it's design and slim in the hand. Unfortunately, if you're looking for that suppressor tuck, most suppressors won't fit underneath this handguard. The inner diameter of 1.35" doesn't leave enough room for my suppressors. So I bought this reduced length handguard to fit with my suppressors.

I am quite pleased with the performance so far as it has taken a few bumps and bangs like a champ. I wouldn't go running it over or anything, but for incidental impacts against barriers and walls it will hold up nicely. The only real gripe is that there isn't a lot of surface area to protect from the heat of a hard run barrel. Even after a single mag, the heat is enough that gloves are recommended. To be honest, while this is a great handguard and wonderful for aesthetics and weight savings, I wouldn't consider using this on any hard use rifles.

I purpose built my rifle to save weight and this helped accomplish that brilliantly. At just under 12oz with hardware, You would be hard pressed to find another full length handguard at this weight and rigidity. For what it is, I give it 5 stars.
Pros:
  • Aesthetics
  • weight and rigidity
Cons:
  • surface area
  • inner diameter
  • ruggedness
Best Used for:
  • light weight builds
  • Competition & Training

Easily installed with proper tools, very secure, aligns well with rail on the receiver. I’ve only used it at the range, but is solid, lightweight and it does exactly what I need it to do. Matched my Aero upper perfectly.
Pros:
  • light but solid
Cons:
  • none can see

Great quality, price, and super light.

I originally bought this to try out an Adams Arms low-profile gas piston to see if it would have the clearances that i would need. I will be returning if it doesn't work. You can't beat the price.

Good looking but the mounting system is not well thought out.

by Louis, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on August 20, 2022
I am glad I came here and read the reviews, I had the same problems as others. The side screws did not line up with the groove in the nut, when it did there was about a 1mm gap. I had to Dremel a couple of notches in the nut and now all is good. Good hand guard but terrible mounting system design. A cheap no name one I got off e-bay, when they sold them, has a much better mounting system. Until they correct this problem I could not recommend this.
Pros:
  • looks great and really shows off Faxon fluted barrel.
Cons:
  • mounting system

Really nice handguard that doesn't line up.

Save your time and effort. Just buy a Midwest Industries handguard, which was my plan when I saw and ordered this one.

I really want to like this forend. I really do. However once installed and assembled on the complete rifle, the handguard has a forced 1mm gap between the upper receiver and the rail. I don't know if it's just out of spec and should be this way or what. The barrel nut has a groove in it, which is supposed to seat two set screws that twist in from 9 and 3 o'clock. With the barrel but torqued to 60 lbs. The groove is still 1mm too far forward to allow the handguard to sit back against the upper receiver. I've removed and retorqued the barrel nut to make certain that the barrel is fully seated in the upper and it is.

This is my first and likely my last Odin product. Honestly, a cheap Diamondback firearms handguard is superior to my experience with this one.

Ultra light and fit well

by Jesus Alonzo, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on November 4, 2021
I need a appealing handguard to cover my 16 inch barrel, after weeks of looking I decided to go with this. I don’t regret it at all. Aggressive look, feels good and holds well. I attached a Streamlight pro tac, and it kills. It comes with everything you need including a barrel nut. Easy to install though I had a tough time removing the other over all I love Odín works. And optic planet is my come to place to buy products I do t buy online anywhere else.
Pros:
  • Good looks and fitment
Cons:
  • None
Would recommend: Yes
