Most Helpful Positive Review Surprisingly Nice!
I was hesitant about getting an Optics Planet handguard since theres so many name brand options available. But for the price I had to try it. Plus it was the look I was going for! To my surprise it feels very well and seems to be quality material. Looks great, cant wait to use it.
Most Helpful Negative Review This was not a wise decision!
This is the cheapest piece of junk I’ve ever purchased, no instructions at all and the barrel but was cross threaded aluminum. The rail is huge but it’s actually a decent built piece, but the barrel nut blows the whole deal. But it was only $30.

OpticsPlanet 12.6 inch Quad Rail, Free Floating Handguard - Rifle Length QRFR12

by DC, from VA, United States Written on January 19, 2021
Good priced Quad Rail, but you get what you pay for. It is decent quality a little finicky to get lined up right. Heavy adds a lot of weight. I ordered two of them and probably will not use them on any of my builds.

as good as it gets for $28

I picked up a couple of these for about $60. I definitely shredded the aluminum barrel nut while installing it but not too much to keep it from functioning properly. I’ll take my time while installing the next one. It looks mean and feels mean on the bare hands. I’d recommend grinding off the gnar where you don’t need it. It thins up nicely and looks pretty neat with a little time on a belt grinder, if you gots access to one.

Perfect for a starter build

by Paul Porter, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on July 3, 2020
This rail does have an aluminum barrel nut and the front cap is smaller than most heavy barrels but come on folks. If you have ever swapped out a barrel on an AR before it is not a big deal. I built an upper from spare parts for my nephew and it is a hammer. Put some anti seize on the barrel nut and use the washers to get the Rail clocked to the receiver and throw away the front cap. The Daniel Defense sling swivel I put on it cost more than the rail. Cover up the cheese grater with some plastic covers and it is a great piece of kit.
Pros:
  • Inexpensive
Cons:
  • Aluminium barrel nut
Best Used for:
  • Rifle build with quad rail

not as advertised

by Strick, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on June 22, 2020
the handguard is of decent quality, and is a great value, HOWEVER in NO way is it 12.6 inches long (as advertised). It is more like 12 3/16" long, and leaves a pretty good bit of the gas tube exposed on a rifle length gas system.

12.6 inch Quad Rail

by Mike, Verified Owner from WY, United States Written on December 29, 2019
I don't write to many reviews, but, I thought I should on this. OpticsPlant has all the parts you can imagine. And the shipping, pricing is always good.
This quad rail looks good and is sturdy. But, it has some issues. Barrel nut is aluminum for one, and is kinda flimsy. It's also difficult to get everything lined up,
a lot of attachment point to line up at once. Lined it all up. My problem with the hand guard is that the end cap pushes on the barrel, like the hand guard is not
straight. Which makes the sight picture off for iron sights. And if I use it, I will have to enlarge the end cap so it does't contact the barrel. Also this is a UTG Quad Rail
must be a second, because it's unbranded. This is my first Quad Rail, not my first hand guard installation.
