looks nice, but it's junk

First order from opticsplanet; no complaints on their end. As for this magazine release button: protrudes out awkwardly far; worse, however is that for me it threaded on very loosely. I don't trust it. I won't be using it.

The finish is ok, It’s on the cheaper end of quality. These do protrude more vs a standard version.

Decent qualty and looks.

Easy to install and matched my Forward control parts. Only issue I had was the thread depth into the button. It’s not deep enough and sticks out further than I’d like.

dimpled mag relase

It looks great and feels great to me there is just one small problem, it’s a bit too extended. It sits way past the edge of the rifle so you can’t really lay it on the side of the mag release because it will come out. Other than that nothing wrong with it and it functions great. It took me about 15 minutes to install and it works perfect!

Perfect if it were 1/4" shorter

The button is a bit less than a quarter inch taller than mil-spec, screw pockets threads end a quarter inch short of bottoming out. These two issues compound to make the button stand nearly a half inch proud of the bump fence.

Fortunately for me I own a #10-32 bottoming tap, a Dremel and a spare mag catch so I'll make it work.

  • Easily modified to fix the cons, with the right tools.
Cons:
  • MUCH taller than the cages that prevent bumping
  • You will dump your magazine in the field

phase 5 magazine release never disappoints

Love this product. looks great, fine detail, feels good. Also a little bit longer than the stock release making it easier to release the mag. The color is spot on. Phase 5 never disappoints great company.

Phase 5 does an amazing job with all their products, and this little button doesn't disappoint! It matches the other blue anodized items I put on my rifle perfectly, and looks really good doing it. I highly recommend!
