Most Helpful Positive Review Quick and Easy
I've been eyeballying the POF roller cams for a while and finally decided to get one. And OpticsPlanet, as usual, had the lowest price. Installation on a DPMS-pattern .308 bolt was as easy as removing/installing a factory cam pin. Noticeably smoother function of the action. It could come with better instructions regarding lubrication/maintenance, but that can be found on the internet. Get one.

Worth It...

by John, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on April 28, 2025
I have the shipped fast Roller Cam Pins in 3 Aero .308 builds. Pack bearing with grease, install and feel the difference. If you own an AR .308 this is one of the tricks to improve performance.
Pros:
  • Slows wear.
Cons:
  • None

Smooth Action

This Roller Cam Pin is an innovative product that eliminates friction on the upper receiver area of piston AR-15 rifles. It operates very smoothly.

Smooth out a stiff action

by Duhamhim, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on December 1, 2024
I'm open to try new things with my AR builds and this was a pleasant surprise My 308 had some "stickiness" so to speakk so I worked on the cheapest item first which turned out to be the roller cam and still in testing phase so an update maybe necessary pros cons

Amazing difference!

by Chris, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on October 27, 2024
Dropped this into the bolt on the AR-10 and I was initially skeptical, I fired about 60 rounds with it and didn't really notice much aside from a slightly different ejection angle (tad higher and more consistently placing cases in a smaller spot on the ground). When I cleaned my gun up, I dropped the factory cam pin back in and compared cycling (just by moving the bolt carrier by hand) and it was noticeably easier to pull out of battery and through the bolt stroke with the Roller Cam. From anywhere I've looked POF doesn't claim this as an attribute, but its pretty clear that it does move easier. Hard to argue with its intended claim though, its better to roll than slide...well, most times anyway...LOL!
Pros:
  • POF quality and engineering
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • AR10

POF Roller Cam Review

by Keith P, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on August 25, 2024
I bought this for a AR-10 chambered for 6.5Creedmore built for PRS Gas Gun, Quantified Performance, etc matches. I installed it on Brownell's Titanium BCG and it has been perfect. You DO NOT need a modified gas key, it will fit any AR-10 BCG. It definitely smooths up operation. I will definitely upgrade every BCG with this part.
Pros:
  • Ease of insallation
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • competative shooting

Well Made...

by John, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on October 8, 2023
Compared against a standard pin that had its contact points smoothed and lubed the Roller Pin has a slightly easier feel when using the charge handle to unlock the .308 bolt. Because it is a bearing I packed the roller with a light grease. It's a keeper.

DDM5 No Go - Measure first.

by Jerry, from MT, United States Written on August 27, 2023
Apparently works for some builds. I have three on 5.56 LMT Enhanced BCGs . But sadly wasted money trying to upgrade my Daniel Defense DDM5. The POF Roller Pin is larger and will not fit the DDM5 bolt. Save money and measure first. The following measurements are from both pins:
POF - .3715 inch / 9.44 mm
DDM5 - .3697 inch / 9.39 mm

Used with JP Low Mass DI AR10 Bolt Carier Group. The combination is smooth as butter and works great. No need to remove the gas key on a large frame, drop in replacement. Used to improve the life of an upper reciever.
Pros:
  • great quality
  • Drop in, smooth
Cons:
  • price
Best Used for:
  • Competition and Target

LR-308 Roller Cam Pin

by Doc, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on January 12, 2022
I see some confusion on the fitment of this. This larger version, for the AR-10 (large frame) does not need the the gas key to be removed for instalation. The cam pin for the AR-15 (small frame) does need the gas key to be removed for installation.

All that said, I love this little device. It not only reduces wear on your upper, it makes for a smoother and slightly quieter movement. I put it in my latest build, a DPMS style 6.5 Creedmoor with a 27" barrel. I Love it
