Most Helpful Positive Review Great...just plain great
First entry into thermal products. Was torn between purchasing this and the new Flir Boson in the same price range. With the advice from Tom on TNVC I went with the Pulsar and am very happy so far. (flir didn't ship for months and is still behind from what I have read anyhow). Advice was if you...

Most Helpful Negative Review Worked great until it didn’t.
Worked great for the first six shots. Sighted in easily. On the seventh shot, one aimed at a large hog, the scope shut off as soon as I fired. Cannot get it to turn back on now. I’ve changed out batteries and done everything I can think to do. Now I’m left without a scope for God only knows while wa...

Good value for money

by ML, from IL, United States Written on February 15, 2022
This is not my first Opticsplanet branded product, and I have found them always to be of a good value. Needed to return one item, it took bit too long for my liking, but otherwise all fine.
Refresh rate is decent, lens works fine also in very humid weather

Beats the night

by bj, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on November 2, 2020
I have significant hog damage to my ranch, so depending on conditions, I use several night vision scopes. ATN and Pulsar-they work well in low sun light, full moon, are easy to sight in, worthless in dark dark without adding IR illumination.

I bought this scope to match my hand held Flir to keep hunting any night. Remarkable clarity, but still can't shoot through branches at spotted hogs. Hogs standing in high brush can be seen but sometimes brush cover will "hide" a target requiring more time to verify I am not shooting at my wife's large dogs! A major pain to sight in. I bought an expensive target for thermal, was just the same as hand warmers on cardboard. Once corrected, leave it alone.

You can see further over open land than you should be shooting. Pulsar is well made and high quality.
Pros:
  • works in all weather and light
Cons:
  • sight in at distance
Best Used for:
  • any legal night hunting

Bad Battery Pack Adapter

by Coyote Jack, from NC, United States Written on October 21, 2020
My brand new Core RXQ30V seems to work fine. The problem I have had is with their lack of support. I can not get my battery pack adapter to work. I used a multi meter and there seems to be no connection between one side and the other. I contacted Pulsar and was told to contact support in my country. I called the number for the USA support and spoke with a guy in Texas. I explained that I had a Brand New scope and the external adapter does not work. He replied that Pulsar no longer makes the adapter so there was nothing I could do! I do not believe that they do not have one adapter some where. I am feeding it batteries usually 2 a day (if I don't forget to turn it off). It sure would be nice to use my rechargeable battery pack.

Good Scope But Having Problems

by Cole Hoskins, from TX, United States Written on August 31, 2020
I’ve had this Scope for about 7 months now it’s worked great up until this past weekend when I went to look through it because there was something out in the pasture and there were really bad lines going down the screen. Not sure if it needs and update or what going to get in contact with Pulsar and see what I need to do. But it’s been a great scope up until this point but for the money you can’t beat it.

Exceeded expectations

by RP from FL, from FL, United States Written on July 7, 2020
Not sure you can beat this scope for the price. The 1.6x is great for scanning and the PIP works great. Clarity is better than I expected with the fixed focus. Plenty of options to set up for various scenarios in black and white hots. I have not been disappointed. The only negative is it doesn't record video.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Clarity
  • Easy to use & operate
  • Picture in Picture
  • Scanning
Cons:
  • No video
Best Used for:
  • Hogs and coyotes

Only have my Axion Mono to compare it too

by zmann, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on June 25, 2020
Comparing it to my Pulsar Axion mono I have to say I like it more for the fact that the power starts out at 1.6 compared to 4. Which gives me a bigger field of view.

Things it doesnt have compared to my mono that I knew before buying it. Video, pictures, many different Hot displays. Can I get over not having video,,,maybe but like I said I knew this before buying it.

I ended up ordering the quick release mount because I believe the Core will be better at scanning while in the woods because of the low power rating of 1.6

Compared to my mono when it comes to adjusting to higher magnification. They both stink. They get to pixelated

Is it clear at the 1.6 magnification,,,yes. It should easily allow me shots out to 200yds

Am I happy with my purchase,,,YES,,,,Im very happy with the quality of the scope for what I paid and the specs look better than the lower cost ATN product,,,,plus Pulsars customer service is super. Ive had no problems but had questions,,Questions were answered in 2 days by email.

The only thing I'm not sure I can get over,, is something I knew it didnt have before I bought it,,,NO VIDEO :)
Pros:
  • Everything about the unit for the cost
Cons:
  • No video
Best Used for:
  • Hunting 10yd - 300yds
  • hunting 10yd - 300yds

Fantastic budget thermal

by Mike, from TX, United States Written on May 24, 2020
I got two of these so my friends could hunt with me. They are so simple and get the job done. Batteries have been lasting about three hunts for us, roughly 2-3 hours a night. I like that there’s no focus, adjusting the focus on some of my nicer thermals can be a pain. I have a Thor 384 and a trail and I’d put this scope slightly below the Thor in image quality and detection.

Fantastic bang for your buck!

by that-gun-guy-, from TX, United States Written on April 8, 2020
I've been using two of the Pulsar RXQ30V's for around year now. I have used both the green sapphire, and now the white hot displays without issue. I searched long and hard to find a budget friendly thermal scope and this is what I went with and have absolutely ZERO regrets. I can see cows over a mile away, and the detection range for other animals is fantastic as well. I normally get about 2.5 hours of run-time before the batteries die, but if I am going for longer hunts or don't want to waste money on batteries I can strap a external battery pack to my rifle and be good to go all night. I am also running the locking QD mount which has a great return to zero and makes handheld scanning, then mounting to a rifle in the dark take seconds (highly recommend, I used the mount in the picture at first, but trying to fumble around in the dark to tighten those two screws took to much time and hassle). No problem shooting hogs, coyotes, and other varmints with this scope. If you want a thermal scope that gets the job done, this is it. Simple, effective, and budget friendly.
Pros:
  • effective
  • budget friendly
  • Intuitive
Cons:
  • Battery Life
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • SCANNING
  • Detecting Heat Signatures

pulsar core RXQ30V

by dvd, from WI, United States Written on January 8, 2020
This is a good starting point into thermal scopes. I started out with night vision and I’d never go back. It took me threes years to decide on a thermal and I wasn’t disappointed with this purchase. 50hz or better is the way to go if you plan on making second shots.
Pros:
  • Simple & Solid
  • Battery options/life
  • quality of image at this price
Cons:
  • None so far
