Most Helpful Positive Review There is no catch
This is one deal that looks to good to be true, but it is not! I have been thoroughly impressed by this upper. The R&D kit comes with a 1913 retainer plug which means that any stripped lower can now become a buffer-less 9mm PCC with minimal investment. I have had zero hiccups running this kit and...

Most Helpful Negative Review Eh for a little more you can get a CMMG
I got this trying to be cheap and have a 16" and use endo mags to keep the manual arms as close to an AR15 for cheaper ammo at the range. Well the endo mags do not work with this upper. I've tried a stiffer spring (for suppressor use) that R&D sold to me for another $45 shipped however that didn't w...

Range review

by MSG RET, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on April 20, 2024
Funally put this upper to the test at the range. Functioned flawlessly. No failures to feed with Glock, ProMag, and KCI mags. It was very smooth and easy to fire. The gritty feel of the charging handle smoothed out after a surprisingly short break-in. Pinging the steel silhouette at 100 yards with a red dot sight. Impressive to say the least.
Pros:
  • acccuracy
  • self contained recoil spring
Cons:
  • None

Seems legit

I haven't fired it yet but out of the box this upper looks and feels pretty robust. I'm not one that worries too much about finish because unless you are going to treat your firearm like a museum piece, its built to get slightly used and abused at the range. That said, the finish is nice and constant throughout the upper and hand guard. The muzzle break is the only part with a shinny finish. I matched this upper to a dedicated Glock lower from Quarter Circle 10, which can be seen on a recent You-tube review of the pistol length R&D. The QC 10 lower has a perfect fit with both a Stern Defense rear charging upper and a QC 10 side charger. The R&D upper fit extremely tight to the QC 10 lower. The front take down pin tab is slightly oversized and needed some finessing to fit. The take down pin is not an easy push with a finger. A tool was needed to tap the pin into place and also to be removed. Hopefully over time this will lighten up with use. The same is said for the rear take down pin. I'm not planning on an easy field strip once I get to the range so I hope this upper functions as well as I have seen on the majority of video reviews. Also the milling dimensions of the rear curvature of the upper, where it meets the buffer assembly tower of the lower is slightly off. There is a noticeable gap between the upper and lower at this location, where as the contours of my other two uppers sat perfectly. As said in most reviews Ive read, The charging handle is a stiff pull that may li...

all around great , affordable , yet sweet.

I know what everyone's thinking ive never seen these before. I went ahead and got one after researching the maker. Customer service is great from optics planet . And the manufacturer. After first test fire, i had a small hiccup on cycling but after adjusting my lower extractor it ran like a champ with a rave trigger from rise. And a midwest stock. Definitely snappy if you buy a all metal stock like me then you can get a stiffer spring to help manage the recoil. Companies talk about innovation and improving designs , and this manufacturer has. Also i want to talk about the biggest perk here a pcc build on average for quality parts run near 1,500 . I bought a spikes lower , a trigger , a saftey , stock, and upper for $900. And this is by far my favorite pcc. Also with current laws , yes you can put a stock on it . At least in my state. But definitely know your laws before hand. Also with a 2moa dot this thing has given me way better accuracy then other builds. I cant say enough good things. Yes i had to file fit the upper however i believe my lower was out of spec as this lined up on a non dedicated lower just fine. Definitely will be my steel shooter.
Pros:
  • Affordable
  • qualities, quality and price
  • fits in small cases
Cons:
  • none I experienced
Best Used for:
  • Steel Challenge
  • Competition & defense
