Easy to use
Saves from shooting detents and springs across the room. Saves money on replacement parts you would normally lose (shot across the room). Alot of nice tools that don't cost alot but save alot of time. Took a few tries to figure out how it works but not much time was spent on that.

Don’t waste your money. I read the directions used it just like it said the detent cut a notch in the thing that holds the spring and detent in.

Best Tool for Quick Builds
When you absolutely need something easier to install a pivot pin. I can do this without, but it makes it so much easier. Definitely worth the buy if you do builds often. Works for AR10 as well.

Makes Installing Detents Quick & Easy
This little takedown pin detent install tool actually works out perfectly fine. Makes installing easy & fast. Made well enough that it should last quite sometime but they do make a metal version also

It is worth it.
It is worth it if you want a quick and easy way to install your pivot pin. Most of the tool is a soft plastic, other than the depression pin, which is metal. Some caution needs to be used to keep from marring the tool.

Real Avid AR15 Pivot Pin Tool
Made installing the pivot pin a snap. Without a tool it can be a challenge to compress the small detent spring and plunger, which get held in place when the pivot pin is inserted. This Real Avid tool is fairly inexpensive and is perfect for the job.

its Almost Too Easy
After sending a few detents into orbit, I knuckled down and ordered this thing. After a little practice, it made it almost too easy to install the front pivot pin. I wish I had bought it sooner!
My only down-check is the pin portion of the device is easy to lose. I keep it and the red plastic body all together in a Ziplock in my tool kit.

pivot pi tool
The Real Avid Pivot Pin Tool works very well. It helps to Install the spring and detent without slipping and the spring and detent flying across the room. Works better than my old style pivot pin installation tool.

Excellent Pivot Pin Gadget
This thing is high quality for what it is and $cheap$ considering hunting down springs/detents. It’s just a plastic gadget for a few seconds of use. I’m not into wasting money on “special purpose” tools if I can manage without them. But, since I’m building multiple AR style rifles this tool and the bolt catch pins are worth buying.
