I was looking for a thermal for a Colt 6920. I wanted something with more eye relief like a reflex sight as opposed to a "rifle scope". I ordered a different product initially, but it had eye relief issues, a mouse print screen menu, cryptic instructions and questionable quality control (the impact point was way off center indicating the sensor or base were misaligned etc. It just seemed to be a cobbled together product that actually cost a lot more money. I returned that product and decided to skip that vendor).
I picked up the Echo3 which was cheaper by several hundred dollars. The one button function/menu options are so much easier than the other product (searching through mouse print menus on the screen). It's easy and intuitive to change zoom settings, reticle selection or color palate. The eye relief is what I was looking for, more of a reflex sight without needing reading glasses. The 30 mhz refresh rate is not an issue for my uses, (targets 50-100 yards. As another reviewer said, you're not going to 'clear a room' with it. It's powered by two CR123's (as opposed to a rechargeable battery the other unit had). For me, this is a plus as replacement CR123's are easy to come by where an AC source for the charger may not. For me it is easier to have a few extra throw away batteries than have to recharge. As far as fit and finish, no issues. Weight and size are similar to my Eotech.
