Good product pretty satisfied with night vision quantity for the price. But will not purchase again because a friend of mine who also purchased is finding it impossible to get a replacement head gear. It seems there is no provision for sale of replacement parts by suppliers. He is being told he has to purchase a full kit. Unbelievable.

Awesome deal on entry-level night vision, having the head mount is a great plus. It is somewhat slow to focus so don't plan on traveling faster than a walk, it should be used for scanning rather than navigation. The IR illuminator is amazing, I could make out every object in a large living room.

For the money these Sightmark NVG’s are amazing. Great for what you should get for this price point and with a couple of parts and a YouTube video they are easily mounted to a helmet. I’m not saying I would deploy with these things, but you can have a lot of fun with them and having nightvision has to put you up one rung on the preparedness ladder, right? Enjoy!
Pros:
- budget friendly
- mountable

I bought this item because I wanted to experiment with night vision for less than $300. After playing with the monocle and head mount I an NOT DISAPPOINTED OR OVERLY IMPRESSED. First, adjusting the eye relief and focus are critical for seeing anything. If you adjust it then change the NV's position relative to your eye it will go blurry again. The head mount seems to do an okay job of maintaining the distance between the NV and your eye. Second, in total darkness you will see nothing without the IR illuminator. Third, when your naked eyes can barely make out shapes (small amount of ambient light) the NV will allow you to see some detail (without illuminator). Fourth, the IR illuminator gives off a small amount of red, visible light that can be seen at 40+ yards.
Basically, Gen 1 NV will give your eyes a little more ability in the dark (without illuminator) but will require practice to maintain the focus. The NV was able to locate my dog at distances that my eyes could not. With the illuminator you will see moving people at 30-40 yards, but they will see a little red LED. I plan on making the illuminator completely invisible to the naked eye by attaching a piece of IR pass filter. It will probably make the illuminator a little less effective but significantly more stealthy. You could also pair this with a commercially available IR light that has no visible output.

Purchased this a week ago and I was very impressed on the quality of this unit. On a moonlit backyard I was able to see up to 50 feet very clearly. With the IR light on, I could see about 75 feet with good contrast and the IR make things stand out. I have installed on a Fast Bump helmet with Rino mount with a Jbar and it works great. I have a Firefield Gen 1 dedicated NV rifle scope on my AR15 in .300 AAC and together with the NVG Ghost Hunter, I own the night. Zombies beware I'm ready for you..
Pros:
- Good quality for the price
Cons:
- Have to focus from time to time
Best Used for:
- None LEO or Military, zombies OK

This is an awesome entry level NVG. For my purposes it fits the bill perfect. If one would compare this unit to a pvs14 the sightmark would be the lower quality unit... that said, the price point for me trumps all... $300.00 can't be beat.

This is the first night vision equipment that I have purchased. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. The headgear was fully adjustable and allowed for dominant and non dominant eye use. I only wish the ir light was not visible to the naked eye.

This product exceeded my expectations. I was looking to put together a budget night vision setup for $500 or less. I achieved that. I bought this along with a tactical bump helmet (lancer tactical advanced version), rhino mount, j bar and a Sightmark IR 805 infrared illuminator. With this setup I have a hands free, comfortable and effective night vision system within my budget. If you are looking to do the same, keep the thumb wheel screw for the head mount that comes with this monocular. You will need it to attach it to the j bar if you're doing a helmet rig.
All in all I am very satisfied.
Best Used for:
- survival
- Tactical
- Prepping
- Budget
- any tasks at night or in the dark

This is a Gen1 unit so don't expect Gen3 picture through it. But for Gen 1 it is outstanding. The unit is light but well made. The head gear works but is not comfortable. I had only a single black spec in mine. This is very good as there is a chance for more in all generations of night vision.

This is a very good intro use night optic. It does everything it is advertised to do. Two things that would improve it would be if it had an external light to indicate the IR is on, and if the instruction booklet were more user friendly. I have many years of experience with many different NVG's, so I could figure out all I needed to know about the devise without the booklet. Someone with little to no experience with NVG's may not be able to use it to its full capabilities.
Cons:
- no IR "ON" indicator light
- instruction booklet
