Great red dot scope
I'm a competitive Precision pistol shooter, my son is considered one of the top Precision (Bullseye) and NRA action shooters in the country and we discuss equipment quite often. Always willing to check available items
I was surprised by the quality of this scope, mine has No Image reduction or Para...

NOT 5 MOA!
Nice little scope, but it is NOT a 5 MOA dot. It is a 2 MOA dot that matches my Aimpoint 2 MOA dot in size. I also have a Matchdot II with 2, 4, 6, and 8 MOA dots and the Sightron S30-5 matches the smallest one.
Another reviewer posted this same comment, but I did not believe them and now I have ...

Works great for bullseye
I bought this Sightron S30 and mounted it to a S&W Model 17 for our indoor 50' bullseye league. I have been using Ultradots for ever, but thought I'd try a Sightron for this gun. First of all, the dot is definitely 2 MOA or slightly smaller, not 5 MOA like Sightron says. Second, to my eye, the dot is not perfectly round, but I have an astigmatism. Some higher-quality red-dots look similar to me, so that is not a knock on the sight, it's just my poor vision. When I say not perfectly round, I mean that it looks like a kidney bean to me. That does not affect my accuracy, however. In fact, it holds zero quite well, the adjustment clicks are tactile, and it's very easy to find and keep the dot during sustained fire. The glass is clear and sharp, and there isn't any negative magnification that Ultradots have become notorious for. I have not used this red-dot outdoors, only at my indoor range. With 11 brightness settings, I find I have to use #7 or #8 to get a dot bright enough to see without any star burst. I'll probably have to use the sunshade to use it outdoors.
All-in-all, it's a good red-dot for my purposes. I'm not replacing my Ultradots, but I'm not unhappy with the Sightron either.

Doesn't fit Ruger Super Blackhawk
Was hoping to put a red dot on my Ruger, and thought this was the ticket. Unfortunately, the Ruger ring mount placements are literally just a hair too close together to fit the larger square middle part of this device. Sadly, have to return it. Seems fine otherwise.
Pros:
- no issues with quality from initial inpsection
Cons:
- center is too long to fit between my scope ring positions
Best Used for:
- non-Ruger revolvers, *maybe*

The red dot is 2 MOA at the best
Nice scope but as other reviewers have mentioned the dot size is actually 2 MOA. I also have UltraDot MatchDot II scopes that have 2,4,6 and 8 MOA red dots, this Sightron compares with the 2 MOA dot PERIOD! Actually wrote to Sightron (Facebook) inquiring about advertised MOA vs actual size and was informed is was a 5 MOA scope! No way! Nice quality scope but needs a larger red dot for (handgun) speed type competitions. Would be fine for bullseye or hunting.

The jury is still out
Need a weapon sight with this specific footprint, with the sunshade installed. Was not able to remove the “trim ring”with my bare hands. Wrapped some fat rubber bands around the ring and tried again Went to the plastic lined pliers and no results. Can you see where this is going? Grabbed the channel locks and mangled the front of the sight. So I put it on a different rifle where it doesn’t matter. I still need a weapon sight with this footprint so I will order another one and if the trim ring won’t come off I’ll contact Sightron directly. It looks to be a good scope style sight with a small, crisp dot. I’m willing to change my review down the road.
Best Used for:
- Short to Medium Range

Dot is not round
Folks, I was disaapointed as soon as I installed the battery. The dot was a sideways 'eight". Turning it on and off, I found it could a medley of shapes with a sideways christmas tree being the worst and most common image. Once it was a nice round dot! What the heck?
Price was right and looks well built otherwise. I bought it because of the reviews. Maybe this will help someone make a better decision.
I wrote Optics Planet about this and I will update review in the future.

Sightron S30-5 30mm red dot
It has a clear lens, very big tube, and good click adjustment, but the dot is very small - almost too small.
The instructions are very minimal, and it took some time to understand the amount of movement per click of adjustment.

- Clear lens

Sightron S30-5 Red Dot 30mm
Looks to be very well constructed.Somewhat old school as far as mounting, but it should fit well on my wife's ar15.
Dials are easy to use, and brightness control is very good. Good equipment for the money. Customer service is great,
Butler Creek lens caps were missing, which were part of the sale package. Quickly resolved by customer service. It is in stock. Other red dots I considered were sold out, on back order. This looks to be a solid useful red dot, can't wait to get it mounted and try it out.

Sightron 30mm
Excellent red dot....nice round and clear. Shoots nice and right up there with my old Ultradots. Good clear glass with no reduction on power. Rings worked fine but I will be replacing with different set.

Mounted this on a Browning Buckmark .22 It works well for Bullseye shooting. There is no starburst around the dot. The rings fit the rail on the Buckmark well. The sight came well packaged. I liked it so much that I ordered a second one.
