Its Good, mounting/compatibility advice
Works fine. Does what you need it to do. It’s made for holosun 407k or any k series footprint. However you need to buy the proper screws to mount a holosun. #6-32 x 1/2". It will also direct mount with any rmsc pattern optics like the vortex defender CCW. The vortex will come with propper screws in the #6-32 x 10mm size which will work just fine.

Great upgrade to old M&P Shield
I went to red dot optics awhile back. Wanted one for my gen 1 Shield. Was happy that Opticsplanet offered this S&W optic-ready, near-complete upper (w/o slide spring and barrel). Like a glove. No issues at all. No regrets. Love this shield. Super dependable and accurate. Result: Tighter groups and more fun! Highly recommend!

Smith & Wesson S&W Shield OR Slide
Great optional equipment for upgrading older Shield to an Optic. Easy to find mounting plate for whatever it is you plan to mount. As usual with mounting plates, best to Locktite the plate and the plate screws in place, or the will work themselves loose during firing. Overall very happy with product. If I were offering a criticism to S&W, it would be: if you are going to market an OR slide, wouldn't it make sense to sell it with factory installed optic co-witness/suppressor-height sights?
But that's my only criticism. Overall glad I bought it.

Slide Assy for S&W Shield
Received as described, S&W product (not aftermarket). Delivery a little slow but not bad (2 weeks).

It's an easy way to get an optics cut
I had a standard shield plus and really don't want the hassle of getting the slide milled. Just plug in the barrel and spring and runs flawlessly.
Pros:
- Update for optics
- Striker and springs are already in the slide
- No wait or shipping to a smith
Cons:
- More expensive than milling if you have one near you.
Best Used for:
- Upgrade a pistol with little trade in value

Perfect fit
This slide was an excellent fit and upgrade, perfectly replacing the California-compliant Shield 1.0 with a loaded chamber indicator. The new configuration not only enhances the overall functionality but also allows me to incorporate a red dot sight, a feature I was previously unable to use. Additionally, Optics Planet offered an incredible deal on this, making it an even more worthwhile investment.

S&W EOM optics ready slide upgrade
After seeing the expanding market of great pistol optics options, I decided to upgrade my existing firearms to be optic ready. The choices were to buy a brand new optics ready firearm, send out the non-optics ready slide to be milled, or to purchase a factory milled optics ready slide.
Since S&W offers a compatible and fully outfitted OEM slide I decided to go that route and I am very happy with the product. This optic cut slide will fit both my Shield M2.0 and my Shield Plus handguns, so it can be interchanged as I see fit.
Price-wise, it was less expensive than a new firearm but more expensive than sending out my old slide to be milled, but for the flexibility of the product and being able to keep the original factory slides was worth it to me.
