Typical Spyderco quality
Many versions and generations of this knife are out there. This is a smooth operator. I got this one mostly for the deep blue color. It arrived and seemed more purple than blue, but everyone I ask has called it blue or blue with a purple undertone.

Love the native 5, love 15v, love spyderco in general. I know lots of love, right? Its Very light, the perfect fit for any hand great for every day carry.

Great knife - Native 5 Lightweight CPM SPY27 Folding Knife
This is a great knife. Great feel, solid, sharp, tough steel. Never disappointed with Spyderco.
And they beat Benchmade - quality, design, variety, and price, including budget versions, plus they allow sellers to apply coupons. Benchmade doesn't.

Good Knife, Great Steel
This is the Spyderco Native 5 lightweight with MAXAMET steel. It has the lightweight FRN (aka plastic) grips and does not have the serrated edge as shown in the picture. The main reason to buy this knife is the exotic Maxamet steel. Be warned, Maxamet is very difficult to sharpen well. Overall, it is a very compact, light and capable EDC.

Spyderco's unknown treasure
The Native 5 is not talked about like other Spiderco knives but it is a treasure and possibly the perfect EDC knife.
The fit and finish is very well done and the ergonomics of the knife in the hand are near perfect.
The lockup is very strong and the blade is razor sharp out of the box.
The blade is low profile into the handle hiding away in your pocket nicely.
The handle scales have a grippy texture but not so much to damage your pocket and I love the blue color.
