Most Helpful Positive Review Full disclosure
In the interests of full disclosure, I have to report I paid less than $500 for this optic. So my estimation of its value for money I think is going to be skewed compared to others' experience with this sight. I'm going to start by saying that I am largely satisfied with this sight, but mostly beca...

Most Helpful Negative Review Nice mid-priced scope
I really like Optics Planet, you can always count on a great discount! The 11% coupon was definitely a factor in buying the Steiner M536 Prism 5x36mm riflescope. It was the right size for my Sig Sauer MCX. I was replacing a Sig Sauer Romeo red-dot scope with Sig Sauer Juliet magnifier and the Steine...

Great Build Quality

by TJ, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on April 8, 2019
A little heavy but probably appropriate to the optics and apparent build quality. Great clamp. Great eye relief. Thought I'd use the top rail but it requires too much head movement to sight. Added offset mount that tucks Leupold Delta nicely alongside lower line of scope. Top cap binds a bit on the rubber gasket. Probably overtighening on my part. Swing-away hinged lens caps require a little bit of thump to get closed - rear is worst. Rear cover is attached to focal ring so any cap rotation changes focus. All complaints are minor. Scope is a great product.

Great deal on a real Steiner Scope!

by Shaun1921, from PA, United States Written on October 5, 2018
If you want a real Steiner Scope made in Germany with German Glass this is the best deal anywhere! Yes it is a fixed 3 power scope but it comes with a built in Picitiny mount and ranges 62 grain 5.56 out to 700 meters accurately. It is heavy but built like a tank just like a military scope should be. I mounted mine on a Colt HBAR 1/7 twist and love it!
Pros:
  • Real German Glass
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Modern Sporting Rifles

Great sight

by flashbangpete, from IL, United States Written on May 7, 2018
This is a great overall optic, really clear, decent reticle. Something that I have read is that people say the reticle is canted however with a plumb line you realize it’s just an illusion. I’m a left handed shooter and funny enough I see the cant to the left. Where as right handed people say it cants right. However it is based on how you line you cheek up with the optic. I mounted it on a beretta arx 556 and I like it a lot
Pros:
  • Well built, works well, good glass, qd
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Range/target shooting

Steiner M536 Riflescope

by DarkWing61, from TX, United States Written on January 2, 2018
This scope works very well, I like it better than my ACOG for the longer range and the wider field of view. The price is about Half the cost. Very User friendly. The down side for me it's alittle on the heavy side other than that Money well spent!
Pros:
  • Field of view , Price,
Cons:
  • Little bit heavier

Steiner M536 works

by Chris, from PA, United States Written on December 21, 2017
I purchased this 7.62 scope during the Black Friday sale. As most of us might do, I mounted it and admired how it looked on an AR-15 5.56mm platform. It's larger than what the online pictures show, in a good way. A nice weather day finally arrived in Pennsylvania, in mid December, so I prepped my rifle on a bench at the range, with two leather rifle sandbags. I used a 20-round PMAG magazine with 223/5.56 ammo, the barrel was a 16" stainless Wylde 1:7 twist. I achieved success with less than 10 rounds. Steiner's factory settings were pretty close to zero. At 100 yards, not using the scope's illumination, I aimed the scope's dot in the reticle to the bullseye on the paper target. I squeezed off 3 rounds. I then aimed at a 12" round AR500 steel plate, 200 yards away, and missed it. I walked to the paper target, and was 4 grid boxes to the left of center. I adjusted the horizontal dial 4 clicks. 3 rounds later, I was 2 grid boxes directly above the bullseye. I adjusted the elevation dial 2 clicks, and popped off 3 more rounds. I hit the bullseye with one round, and the other two rounds landed slightly to the left, within 1 inch of the center. This 3-round triangle shot group was 1 3/4 inches tall and 7/8 inches wide. I hit the 200 yard steel target successfully 4 more times. The Steiner scope was sighted in, for less than $5.20 in ammo. I used all 20 rounds, and was done for the day. There was a very light wind, and the temperature was 42 degrees and sunny. The ...

Steiner M536

by Dave, Verified Owner from KS, United States Written on December 19, 2017
I am very pleased with the choice of this battle sight. The quality of the optics are outstanding. I have a M332 battle sight on another rifle and the M536 is a continuation of the engineering. The glass is extremely crisp and clear and the etched reticle is precise. The only complaint I have with this sight and the M332 are the relatively short eye relief.
Pros:
  • quality and brightness of sights
Cons:
  • weight
  • eye relief

German quality, clear vision optics, fast to install and adjust. Havier than my last scope vortex spitfire 3x but it give you bigger magnification and wide field of view. Perfect customer service and fast delivery from optics planet, well done!

Tilted Reticle

by Sleeplessnashadow, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on April 27, 2017
On receiving the item I found the reticle to be tilted about 10 degrees to the left. The item has been returned for a replacement as I like the clarity the glass has. The overall scope isn't a $3000 Steiner I can't afford so I'm willing to accept some trade offs others here have complained about. It suits my needs. This rating is for this one scope. I had noticed another buyer had the same issue with the reticle so wanted to add to it to let people know it wasn't a one time event.

I've requested Optics Planet examine the cross hairs of the replacement before shipping and not ship another defective one as the return took several weeks to get to them and now two weeks later I have yet to hear about a replacement.

I'll post another review of the replacement should I receive one.

Whatever quality control final inspection Steiner does should have picked up on this issue as it's obvious I have photos showing the reticle off kilter.
Pros:
  • Clear optics
Cons:
  • None

Excellent for optic for battle rifle.

by Pancho, from TX, United States Written on April 7, 2017
At this price point, you can't beat this 5x fix armored optic. Glass is on par with optics that cost 4x what this does. The reticle is simple with BDC and illumination. The entire scope is rubber armored. The included QD mount locks rock solid and has a reproducible POA/POI when removed and remounted. The optic makes quick work on IPSC sized steel targets out to 500 meters. I am a LaRue fan and this european QD mount is on par with the best LaRue QD mount.

Only two "downsides": 1) It is relatively heavy for it's size (likely due to the robust construction and armoring). 2) It does not allow good enough field of view for CQB engagement. You'll likely need an accessory reflex sight or BUIS for that situation.

For fast shooting, quick target engagement from 50 to 500 meters, this Steiner can't be beat. I am replacing a older Trijicon TA648 with the Steiner. I am happier with the Steiner on many levels.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • weight
Best Used for:
  • short to mid range shooting
