Most Helpful Positive Review Works great
Works great in my PSA AR10. Cheapest place online to buy it. The flatwire compresses more than the stock spring and allows for better force to feed. Not sure I can tell a difference in sound as claimed.
Most Helpful Negative Review King Kong could not cram this into a carbine tube!
Tried many many times but this thing will not go into a carbine buffer tube, way too long. Packaging states: "compatible with all standard AR10/SR25 receiver extension lengths". There is just no way - without bending it out of shape or cutting it off, this thing is going in to a carbine length buf...

Do you even 308 bro?

by JG, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on October 28, 2025
First off, the negative reviews on this spring are nonsense. It absolutely does fully compress in a carbine tube. If it's not fully compressing, then the issue is the knuckle dragger who installed the spring tried to put a carbine buffer in the tube, not a 308 buffer. Also, if you can't exert the oomph needed to get this spring into the tube, you probably don't have the body mass to take 308 recoil and should stick to 556. Now, the spring is absolutely stuff, and it does require more effort to fit it all in the tube, but once you have it set, it's very smooth and consistent. It feels much better than a traditional piano wire spring. Cost is reasonable for being an upgraded spring, comparables cost even more. Cost to value ratio is stellar. Similar to a Tubb spring in feel and performance.
Pros:
  • Cost to performance ratio, good value
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • A stiff kicking 308

Great fit.

Easy to install. Improves function, in that carrier is lighter, no binding. Waiting to do a final test. Carrier was short cycling.

Strike Industries AR10 Flat Wire Spring

by kwest, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on March 2, 2024
I'm not sure if this was packaged wring or has the wrong description, but it is the length of a rifle buffer spring and does not let the gun cycle fully. I will be replacing it very soon and seeing if this fixes my issue.

high quality product

by Concours14, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on November 14, 2023
I’ve used several of these springs in different AR’s I’ve built. They’ve always worked great and reliably. I actually installed this latest one in an AR-15 9 mm pistol I built. I can’t say yet how well it works or if it will be too stiff for a 9 mm application but many people say that it’s best to use an AR-10 buffer spring in a 9 mm build, so I’ll have to see if it functions properly. I’m using a 6.5 oz. Buffer so I wanted a stiffer spring in it since I already had the buffer from another build.

Great silent spring!

by Jackson, Verified Owner from AK, United States Written on October 21, 2023
Great spring and very quiet, no more AR "thwang" after every shot. Longer than expected and a little bit harder to install, but excellent all the same
Best Used for:
  • Every AR 10 build

Strike industries buffer spring

by Darouny Vongphachanh, from NC, United States Written on March 27, 2021
I love the strike industries flat wire springs because I've built like 3 ar builds with them and haven't had any problems cycling. This will be the 4th one I've purchased. Decent price verses paying for a basic spring and a high end spring like the Geisle spring....if thats how you spell it lol
Pros:
  • Durable, affordable, functional
Cons:
  • can't say anything bad about it as of now
Best Used for:
  • home defense, target practice, hunting, and just having fun exercising your 2nd Amendment

A must have for any sr-25 6in buffer tube

by Wyatt, Verified Owner from AK, United States Written on December 27, 2020
Replaced a standard carbine spring, at first glance I didn’t think it would fit in a 6in buffer tube sb tac pdw on a 308 win. It does and it greatly helped reduce felt recoil. Difference was night and day and I will be ordering a second.
Pros:
  • cost
  • Fit and Function
  • Less felt recoil
Cons:
  • None

It works, but isn’t necessary

by JoePa, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on June 5, 2019
I ordered this due to cycling issues on my Aero M5 build. Turned out I needed to open up the gas port on the barrel. Generally 308 ARs are overgassed, not undergassed. This model seems too long for either carbine or rifle length tube. Again it works, but I ended up trimming a couple inches off to make it easier to put in my carbine length tube. My rifle cycles flawlessly.

Love these things

by Jack, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on February 17, 2018
I haven't built my 308 lower yet, but I put one of these in both my 5.56 & 300BLK. I wasn't really having any cycling issues with either of them, but these springs are a nice cheap upgrade. Going semi-budget with this build, but this part is no brainer. Well worth the few extra buck over mil spec. The spring does sound different, too.
