Most Helpful Positive Review Great product but one word of warning...
I may be slightly jaded because I like S/I products a lot and have quite a few, but I do love the fit and finish of the REX Exoskeleton. I used it to mount a Burris Fastfire 3. It was a little tricky to handle all the tiny pins and screws, but in the end it was rock solid and looks great. Even comes...

Most Helpful Negative Review Functionally worthless
This may be common knowledge that I'm just now learning, but I've found that Strike Industries products look tacti-cool but are completely worthless in real-life use. This SI REX is the perfect example. The first time I mounted the REX, the cross bolt that mounts to the rail sheared off at the thr...

Interesting Shrouded Reflex Mount

by Core, Verified Owner from ME, United States Written on June 24, 2025
The design is interesting and creative, I give it high merits. The shroud is rugged and well designed. The too-less picatinny rail clamp base is really forward thinking, no tools needed. My critical issue with the mount is it not being Delta Point Pro compatible. I had purchased the mount for a DPP and I was left wondering why they chose not to offer the option. I didn't notice the description where it said DP but not compatible with the Pro. The DPP is one of the best red dot reflex optics and SI should consider that. The mount is very low which works with my intended application, however, SI should consider adding some polymer riser plates similar to Troy's Reflex Mount design. I will be using the mount on a shotgun which is the only suitable option for it.
Pros:
  • Steel Design
  • Effective Shroud
  • Tooless Picatinny Base
  • Majority Civilian Reflex Compatibility
Cons:
  • No Risers Included
  • Tricky Post Install with Easy to Fumble Components
  • Needs a slight Increase in Default Height
Best Used for:
  • Shotgun
  • PDW
  • Elevated Picatinny Rail Mount Applications
  • AK and Higher Forward Mount Rails

Strike Industries always has quality products. I am using this with the Hexion Seeker which has the trijicon foot print.

Awesomeness

by some Goober, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 18, 2025
What matters most is that it looks cool AF. But seriously, its shape; they nailed it. It reminds me of the protective ears on old school rifle irons but this one for a red dot. Imo this is the best one on the market that I've seen. Strike Industries has a tallent for designing cool looking and functional pewpew parts.

Great idea, needs better execution.

by Christopher Kozak, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on June 20, 2023
This is an awesome ideas, but not all pistol optics are the same body size. They need to raise the guard rails a touch higher. My Holosun sticks over the top of the frame. So if it falls on the optic, it still takes damage. Trust me, I’ve had it happen before.
Pros:
  • Price,
  • idea
Cons:
  • Limited options for optics
Best Used for:
  • rmr

Finesse over strength

by LetsGoBrandon, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on March 4, 2023
Installed without a hitch. I have no idea how all of you struggled so much. 10 pounds exact on the tension screw. Didnt break it. They make loctite for a reason. Its not going anywhere. The pins do a lot to keep it in place also and it sits snug in the shroud as it is without the screws... They're basically to make sure it doesnt slide out. Looks amazing and functions nicely. Been looking for a nice flush mount for my RMR. Would highly recommend to anyone. Already recommended it to my brother in law. Hes gonna grab one himself.

Neat design, but poorly executed.

by Will, from TX, United States Written on October 17, 2021
I bought this to add some protection to my red dot on my duty shotgun. But, as I was tightening the cross screw, it broke at 12 inch pounds. I emailed SI, and never received a reply. As of now, the replacement screw is out of stock, so I just have a useless piece of aluminum.

Being as most cross bolts are around 30 inch pounds, I can not understand why they went with such a small screw that couldn’t be tightened to 15 inch pounds. If they change the design to a larger, more robust screw, they’ll have a pretty awesome design.

Strike Industries Great Freakin Mount

by Georgie Porgie, from TX, United States Written on December 12, 2020
I backordered this mount, 2 days later it was being shipped, and received just a few days later. This protective mount looks, feels, and functions awesome. I use it on my PTR 9KT MP5 clone with a (Brown) Trijicon RMR, and let me tell you... this thing is freakin awesome! I don't just like the functionality of this product, I love the sexiness of it as well. Strong, sturdy, well made, reliable, and I highly recommend purchasing this product from "Optics Planet."

Pros:
  • Everything
Cons:
  • I can honestly say, No Cons.

Believe the negative reviews

by JS, Verified Owner from IA, United States Written on August 24, 2020
I didn't want to believe that this was such a weak product. I figured Strike Industries would have remedied the issues by now. They even send a little card that says to torque down to 15 inch-pounds. That was a good sign. That's what I thought until I set my torque screwdriver to 15 inch-pounds, placed the screws through my Vortex Venom into the mount, tightened, and then felt the threads strip. Although ruined at this point, I tried again with 13 inch-pounds, which stripped the other side. Is my driver not calibrated? Maybe. I don't want to say it is definitely the product's fault. Has it ever stripped threads in another product when going by the manufacturer's guidelines? No. I would caution buyers to confirm calibration on their driver and perhaps question Strike Industries regarding whether 15 is the appropriate torque. Alternatively, Strike could just make a stronger mounting bracket and charge slightly more. This is a good idea for a product with few, if any, alternatives. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy it if I were given a torque figure that worked, but I am now in the camp of those individuals who had to write a bad review about its tendency to be weaker than expected.
Pros:
  • Good idea, just not well engineered or well built
Cons:
  • poor quality attachment points
Best Used for:
  • Airsoft

Great protective shell for MRDS optics

by HB, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on March 12, 2018
As with all Strike Industries gear, the REX is a solid product at a great price. It comes with a nice set of adapters for various MRDS sights. I used it with a Vortex Venom on a CZ Scorpion Evo. The benefit for that set up is the REX lifts the optic slightly higher than the Venom rail mount. This allows the optic just enough field of view clearance over the factory fixed sights. Only complaint is the piece that clamps to the rail is somewhat small.
