Most Helpful Positive Review Overall great product ... though quite pricey
Though not cheap, this product is solid, allows for installation of a variety of rail mountable accessories, and counts as a 922(r) compliant component. Things I'm not crazy about: (1) Price, (2) adds a fair bit of weight, (3) could benefit with a recess for installing tape switches, and (4) the t...

Most Helpful Negative Review Best rail out there, but leaves a lot to be desired
The side rails will not work with LaRue Tactical mounts - the center of the recoil lug is cutout does not probide sufficient backup. The sides will only work with cross-bolt mounts. The side rails also do not have clearance for a Thorntail due to the rubber barrel shroud almost touching the undersi...

Surefire M80 forend for Benelli M4

by Ken, from WA, United States Written on September 23, 2015
This is an excellent product and OP had it priced below that of the manufacturer's website price. Further, they had it in stock (not so, Surefire).

The product itself is easy to install and once in place, is perfect for adding any "furniture" the operator desires to optimize this already magnificent weapon. In my case, I have an 8-round Mesa Tactical sidesaddle, a two-round Asgard sidesaddle, a Surefire Scout light, and a Trijicon 2X ACOG optic.

A finally shout out to OpticsPlant for their outstanding product selection, pricing and service! Well done, TEAM OP!!

Fits like a glove.

The rail system is very easy to install. It is solid and is a great addition to the M4. Not only for adding flashlights and grips, but it also counts as a 922r compliance part. I would recommend purchasing the rubber covers for the rails, it's much easier on the hands. I purchased this after reading reviews on other systems the interfered with the gas pistons. This system appears to be shaped perfectly around the Pistons causing no interference.

I ALSO Got One With Defective Side Rails

by MBro, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on April 21, 2015
Although I've had this rail system for a few months, I just had an opportunity to mount it to my Benelli M4 a few days ago. Much to my disappointment, my Larue Offset Scout Light mount will NOT attach to either the right or left side rails (3:00 and 9:00 positions). Instead of using the $100+ Larue quick detach Offset Scout Light Mount like I have on all of my other Picatinny railed long guns, my only apparent option is to use the basic SureFire screw on cross-bolt mount that was originally supplied with the Scout Light.

To ascertain if this could be a Larue mount issue instead of a problem with the new SureFire rail system, I attached the Larue to the Picatinny rails mounted on several other rifles. The Larue mount fit fine on all of those in every possible mounting position. As I continued troubleshooting this problem, I also tried to mount three other identical Larue quick detach Scout Light mounts on this new SureFire Benelli M4 rail. Same results! The rail's 3:00 and 9:00 positions will not accept the Larue mount. It seems pretty apparent that the side rails on my brand new SureFire Benelli M4 rail system are NOT in spec.

I just discovered that another Optics Planet reviewer has also experienced the same issue as mine. His review was posted over one year ago. However, a more recent OP reviewer said that his rail system worked fine. I'm not sure what the explanation is, but I do know that this is not a typical example of the quality I've come to expect from ...

just installed mine...works as described

by Michael, from OH, United States Written on February 21, 2015
I usually dont write reviews often but someone had mentioned that they were not able to use a LaRue mount on the surefire rail system....I dont know if this other person was using a damaged product or maybe surefire changed the design but I can tell you MY LaRue mount fits just perfectly when I tested it today 2/21/2015. It is a mil-std 1913 picatinny rail all the way around the foreend.

Plus, this piece counts as being 922r compliant. Expensive, but best piece of equipment in the market for functionality for attaching accessories and being stylish.
Pros:
  • Functionality
  • options
Cons:
  • price, but you get what you pay for

Surefire M80 rail system

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on June 4, 2010
Functional, solid, well made, easy to install. Installed on my M4 in 90 seconds. Will install tangodown vertical foregrip and surefire light as soon as I recieve them. Machined for my Benelli perfectly. I suppose that's why it was so outragiously expensive. Looked at many other mounting options but the M80 is by far the sturdiest most functional best option out there
Pros: Comes assembled, easy to install, well made
Cons: Too expensive

Surefire Benelli Rail System

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on April 8, 2010
This is the best after market rail system for this weapon system. Surefire needs to make an integrated light/rail system as they did for the Benelli M1. This rail system is the next best thing. On the down side, it cost a lot. However, you get what you pay for.
Pros: Good construction. 3 Rails
Cons: Cost. No integrated light.
