More than it looks like at first sight
This V-Block is the perfect addition to a 10/22 build or a stock 10/22 in order to make it the best it can be. This is NOT your "run of the mill", "everyone makes one" V-Block. This is real Stainless Steel, not light weight aluminum for starters. It is "directional", meaning, there is an up side and a down side. The up side mounts towards the barrel. It is NOT like all the others I have used. Perfect fit
Does what its intended to do. Holds the barrel snug for a perfect fit. Especially with the Tac Sol barrel.

Did I get the right one?
Not sure if I ordered the right one for my 10/22. I used this with Tactical Solutions x-ring open sights fluted barrel. After a lot of sanding on the barrel shank to get it to fit, this v-block was nowhere close to fitting. I had to file it down on the "up" side significantly. I just may not have realized that these were such "precise" parts and require the final bit of fitting. With my very limited gunsmithing skills, I got both to fit and the rifle went together. I would recommend this part as I did not try another brand to see if that needed to be fitted too.

Did not work for me…
I purchased this V-block to install with a new TacSol SBX barrel on my mid-2000s model 10/22. At first I was unable to fully seat the bolts as there was insufficient clearance. I thought perhaps the “up” arrow was backward, but after contacting TacSol customer support, they had me seat the bolts before beginning to tighten them. This appeared to work, but I was concerned about how much shear force was being applied to the bolts. I then installed a Hogue aftermarket stock and noticed that the excess metal on the bottom of this block, angled down slightly, caused the stock forend to gap significantly. This wasn’t free floating the barrel, it was causing the forend to flex down the more the stock bolt was tightened. I’m not sure why this didn’t work for my application because others seem to have good luck with it.

This is just what I needed worth the wait! works great! it fits the way it should, 100% contact on upper and lower. no need to pay more, any screws that are made for the Ruger 10/22 or variants will work fine.

Worthy Upgrade
This is an inexpensive part that is more of a why not upgrade. I bought the Tactical Solutions 12.5 inch barrel with shroud and figured I would get this to go along with it. It inverts the thicker barrel to ease the process of free floating. It locks up right and is certainly made of quality metal.

Needed for any tactical solution barrel!
The v-block Shipped quickly from OpticsPlanet and was an easy install on the Tactical Solutions sbx barrel. I would recommend buying this for any 10/22 aftermarket barrel but especially to be used with any Tactical Solutions 10/22 barrel.

solid durable quality part
I received the part and installed on my custom ruger 10/22 rifle, you don't have to worry about deforming or gouging out unlike aluminum blocks if you overtorque the screws by accident. It's always good to dab a drop of loctite 242 to make sure your screws don't come loose and the barrel coming off. Overall it's a solid quality part.

Tactical Solutions products contribute to a great Ruger 10/22 build. The V-block as stated keeps the barrel solid and on specs for precision shooting. This is my third Custom Ruger 10/22 Gun build that I have not only utilized the V-block but also their Barrels and Compensators. At the Range my Rugers are Tack Drivers! I would recommend this product to all who want to build a Gun the right way the 1st time!
