Most Helpful Positive Review Good replacement for Accu-trigger
My Accu- Trigger would not hold at 1.5 lbs. 2 lbs if I was lucky. Ordered new sear from Savage, still would not hold, they said send in gun. No way. Bought the Timney, got it set correctly, breaks crisp at 1.5 or a little less. If that is what you want then it works fine. You will use some Savage trigger parts though. So far so good.

Timney vs savage trigger

by Robert, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on June 24, 2025
If you own a Savage rifle with the accutrigger on a model 10 bolt action rifle, this is the replacement trigger to use.
It is not the trigger for the A17 model rifles.
If you try to set the trigger pull weight to minimum with a accutrigger, a problem can arise where the firing pin gets blocked when the trigger is pulled. The interposer will not allow the firing pin to hit the primer with enough force for the round to go off. This is indicated by a mark on the primer (small dimple). This has happened with several different shooters using my rifles.
The Timney replacement works very well, BUT you may have to set the sear engagement screw for more engagement of the sear. This is necessary if with the safety fully engaged, the trigger is not fully locked out.
I have replaced the Savage accutrigger with the Timney trigger on all of my Savage models 10-12 with great success (8 rifles).
Very easy to install.
Pros:
  • As described
Cons:
  • Do careful adjustments

Timney Triggers Savage Accutrigger Trigger

by Smoke, from TX, United States Written on March 23, 2025
Timney makes great triggers. However, this trigger has no over-travel adjustment. For the Savage Model 110, make sure you watch their installation video. There's reference to a shim washer that helps. The written instructions do not mention using this shim washer. I found a mm washer at Ace Hardware.
But for the Savage AccusStock, the Timney pull weight set screw might touch the rear trigger guard screw internally and/or the plastic boss that the screw goes into. The screw can be shortened about 1/8" and the boss relieved with a large drill bit.

Timney trigger for Savage 110 Ultralight Accu-Trigger

by Jim, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on June 20, 2024
Watch out! Ordered 631 not knowing any better, couldn’t get it to work properly, even watching videos. Noticed video trigger different from mine, Optics Planet exchanged for correct one and I lived happily ever after. Install super easy and learned more about this weapon during install.

Good trigger to replace a problematic Accutrigger

by sharpshooter33, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on February 22, 2024
The Accu-trigger is a good trigger in most cases, but in some cases they are junk. (personal experience)
If you have one of the junky ones that like's to "lock up/go into safe mode" "Because you PULL the trigger wrong" (per Savage Arms) This is a good replacement for that. As long as you don't try getting crazy with low low pull weight this trigger does great. Crisp and consistent. Easy to install. It gives you the old world(Just a trigger no trigger safety) clean trigger shoe.
Just my opinion. If you have a good Accu-trigger and can live with the safety blade in the middle then stay with that. The actual break is close to the same. Timney is just cleaner without the "Accu-" blade.
Pros:
  • good clean break, easy install
Cons:
  • Not a big upgrade to a working accu-trigger
Best Used for:
  • replacement

Accutrigger Replacement

by Pell, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on January 18, 2024
Very easy to install and setup to your preferred trigger pull. This is a great improvement to the standard savage accutrigger. I converted all of my 110's to this setup. I would highly recommend thisbtrigger

Timney Trigger for Savage

by Mark H, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on November 3, 2023
I bought this and tried to install it myself. The trigger would not adjust. It would either fire when the bolt was closed or it was 5 pounds. Nothing in between. I called Timney. No help at all. I took the rifle to a gunsmith just in case I was doing something incorrectly. He had a similar problem and called Timney. No response from Timney. He finally figured out a way to do a workaround. In hindsight I wish I had kept the original trigger.
