Good optic

Check if you have astigmatism before buying! Even a slight affliction causes the dot to smear. If i were to buy again I would buy a larger dot this is used on a 12ga. And the dot is the size of a slug hole at 50 yards... Kinda cool what ever is under the dot is gone. The flash kill is a must have for mixed lighting environments.

Inherantly not intuitive if not familiar.

Large firearms

Truly the Worst Red Dot You Can Buy

This has got to be the worst thing I have ever purchased. The tritium is worthless. Even with dark adjusted eyes, the "dot" is impossible to pick up. I say "dot" because it's more like a collection of fuzzy balls. There is no single clear dot reticle, and it's nowhere near 6.5 MOA. In bright light the visibility of the "dot" is between marginal and invisible based on lighting on you and on the target. Should you pick up a light source such as a light bulb in your view, you will get a whole collection of light bulbs in your view as the optic refracts and multiplies the image. Needless to say the "dot" is long gone at this point. Also I would like to point out there is no anti-reflective coating on the lens. From your target's point of view you are shining a green mirror at them. Truly a worthless piece of garbage.

1 X 42 Reflex Sight

I have used Trijicon sights in the past. There products are always 1st rate. I like the green dot in this sight. it is easier to pickup on the target. I mounted this sight on my 3 gun shotgun. This sight has helped me improve my shotgun skills at various 3 gun matches.

Disappointing

Was far too dim indoors and in cloudy conditions. Dot gets washed out by any lightly colored surface. Feels like it's built like a tank, but I just cant trust it to show a dot in every situation. Found it to be not-usable with a flashlight.

Poor indoor dot visibility
Poor overcast dot visibility

Best Used for:

Might be more usefule in the Desert.

Bad transition..

When in a dim lit room looking out it takes a few seconds to pick up the dot. For idpa or plinking its great. But for LE i do not recommend. I would recomend the 6.5 MOA. The 4.5 is too small to pick up.

Great, sometimes.

This optic is great, sometimes. Indoors at a range, its not much fun. There is not enough range (at the ones I go to anyway) to brighten the reticle - it just ends up washing out on paper.

Outdoors, even under cloudy or overcast weather, this thing rocks. The reticle is bright and target acquisition is no problem.

There is always a "purple glare" from the lens coating that is noticeable, I grew used to it, but when friends would shoot my rifle they would comment on this obnoxious "purple glare".

Its rugged and a great outdoors daylight optic.

Good for outdoor use

Cons:

Bad indoors or at shooting range

Daylight outdoors

Dead on right out of the box!

No need to adjust sight. It will be dead on right out of the box. I have 2 of these now and they have not failed me yet. Very rugged and strong and will withstand a beating. Also no batteries means you won’t worry about losing your sight to dead batteries halfway into a shooting session.

Insane Sight...

Absolutely recommend this, worth every penny. Do not look anywhere else. Quality costs extra. If your at all unsure, go to your local gun shop and check one out. Then circle back to optics planet and make the purchase.

Pretty good but just not right.

This was a good optic but I had a hard time seeing the green dot on very light colored or bright surfaces. It could have been my eyes I don't know so I wouldn't discount this as being the right fit for someone else, just not for me.

Trijicon 42mm reflex green

Great optic. Good clarity of optics. Rugged design, as you would expect from Trijicon. My version was the green 9MOA dot with tritium and fiberoptic. Complaints: green dot could be brighter and the objective lens is like a mirror, highly reflective toward the target. There are antireflective options, but they are expensive and reviews suggest that they diminish optical clarity.

Rugged and reliable
High quality optics

Cons:

Aiming beam brightness
reflective objective lens

Best Used for:

Targets less than 50 yards
variable lighting conditions
