Easy install, works as intended. quick modification.

If you have ever struggled releasing the bolt on your 10/22, or had frustered kids you're teaching, this is a.must have upgrade. Yes, i do know you can modify the existing bolt lock and save the money, but this is a simple drop in fix that takes less than 5 minutes. Save the old bolt release to modify for the next rifle. Dont forget to.retorque the take down screw when you put the action back into the stock.

So these installed easily. The release could be made by just drilling out the hole (get rid of the 'tab' of your existing release). But the price was worth it to have it done and have the OEM part left over if this one malfunctions.

The hold back cross pin installs a little more difficultly, has one chamfered end hard for me to see but should be placed in a hole first and followed through to the other side. I tapped it with a small plastic head hammer to get it in place. It will probably stay put better than the OEM steel pin.

The release functioned perfectly, no mis-releases, every time it was used. I can't say if the recoil was less, there's not much with the 10/22 and a heavy bull barrel, but I had no miss fires or fail to eject as some theorized. I think I got the kit for about $10 here - put it in both my 10/22s (Target and Carbine) and installed and worked equally well in both.

Zero issues with Ruger bolt release now. This part fixes a problem that should never have existed. Definitely a great fix worth the price!

Inexpensive upgrade to reduce bolt locking issues.

Best and easy upgrade to any 10/22. I have the 60th anniversary edition which is already an upgraded model from factory and honestly, these are the only upgrades I felt it needed. The recoil buffer is easy to change and acts to soften the (minimal) bolt recoil vs the factory steel buffer. The auto bolt release is also easy to replace watching a video on YouTube, took 5 minutes. The factory bolt release mechanism is annoying, you have to wiggle it just right to release, this is a much more intuitive solution.

Automatic bolt release is a must for any 10-22 this one works great. The recoil buffer is tapered slightly on each end, which makes install easier.
